Description
Venerator is a third generation space superiority fighter of the Nemerid Alliance.A fast and powerful craft, Venerator relies on its speed and armament to overwhelm an opponent in order to achieve victory.
Much of Venerator's firepower comes from its main armament array. A forward modular weapons bay
houses a multi-state high energy gamma ray emmitor whose pulse, machine-gun mode of fire has proven
to be an effective and accurate weapon when used against enemy fighters and similar sized craft.
When facing a larger threat, emmitor can be switched into solid state mode, producing a single beam that can damage structure of the large vessels or installations. Forward weapons bay itself, due to its modular nature can be adjusted to hold a different weapon types of similar size and the design of the bay itself makes the weapon exchanges to be fast and easy process.
Venerator's flexibility doesn't stop with its primary armament housing however. Underneath the body lies a main interchange cargo module that can house various types of internal attachments.
Although a wide range of configurations exist, most widely used center around:
- AWACS and C3I module for extended sensor, countermeasure and datalink ability.
- Fuel and Power module for extended range and primary weapon functionality.
- Weapons module for increased armament capacity.
- Defense module that allows power to be alternated into energy dissipation web.
Venerator's fearsome offensive capabilities are backed up by its equally impressive acceleration thats provided by its oversized primary propulsion system.
Easily taking most of the craft's space, primary and secondary drives as well as power supply module and subsequent fuel storage, provide Venerator with high linear thrust and high acceleration capability thats rarely matched by similar craft.
This, however, comes at a price in a form of reduced maneuverability. Venerator possesses less than optimal 360 degree-point turning rate, even with support of integrated gravitic energy grid.
Thus pilots are often resorted to maneuvers similar to those used by classis newtonian atmospheric craft. To compensate for this, Venerators are outfitted with state of the art sensors, avionics and targeting systems.
Primary intriguing feature of Venerator's fire control is a direct link between primary through tertiary sensors and the pilot through neural interface. Such data flow, unrestricted by input intake delay, provides Venerator pilots with enchanced capability of interpreting sensor data, acquiring targeting information and maneuvering their craft at the same time.
To enchance this, groups of Venerators share a C3 (Command, Control, Communication) link that provides un-interrupted information flow between different aircraft, which in turn increase efficiency of target acquisition and tracking as any single Venerator pilot can instantly access sensory data of any friendly linked craft.
The neural interface requires Venerator pilots to undergo a neural access implantation surgery where sensory electrod net is implanted directly underneath the skull in sub-dural space, where they are close enough to the brain to register thought waves yet do not actually physically touch the matter of cerebral cortex itself.
Venerator's passive defensive capabilities are limited by its size and mass. Active defenses that include multi-phase sensor jamming and other countermeasures are present standard on every craft as parts of the avionics package. They can be expanded via addition of AWACS & C3I module, but the most significant recent development comes in a form of Defense module.
This optional piece of equipment channels craft's energy supplies through its gravitic energy grid into a set of outriggers that produce external magneto/gravimetric field bubble used to absorb impacts from energy weapons. Grid's actual functionability depends on the amount of power being fed into it, as power can be allocated from different if not all on board systems.
Defense Grid provides an option of higher surviveability against light energy weapons at the expense of a linked system or systems from which power is being diverted.

is it me or does this look strikingly similar to a vaygr assault craft?
