Character Info:
A scoundrel, a cheat, a thief, and a liar, Sprung lives for the thrill of it, and has little regard for what others think of him. He has absolutely no problem with wrecking havoc just because he can, and very frequently gets in trouble with both the law and the lawless. He might seem like the worst, but his lifestyle wasn't always like this.
Sprung, back in the day known as Parkley Krumore, grew up in a well-off household. Spoiled, but well-mannered, he enjoyed his life of leisure until the time when he began to develop obvious magical abilities. His parents knew that under right tutelage he would become a powerful mage, so they sent him away to pursue a more formal education. Parkley was not too excited about this sudden change, but went with it nonetheless. He did study for some time, and even though the teachers saw a promising sorcerer in him, Parkley's ambitions outgrew their mentorship fairly quickly. He secretly despised the whole ordeal. The rules, the schedules, the competitiveness of the education, none of it appealed to him at all. With his newfound freedom, and seemingly unlimited coin, he decided that it is time he started living for himself. He spent and he gambled, he started fights, and he argued with the faculty. His parents heard of his growing reputation, and promptly cut off his funds in hopes of teaching him a lesson. That however did not stop Parkley. Soon he could not afford the tuition, and despite his persuasion skills, he was forced to leave the academy.
Now out on the streets, Parkley desperately wished to prove that he could do better than that. And at that point an opportunity appeared in a form of a mercenary guild looking for new recruits. Parkley knew this organization well. The guild used to be affiliated with his former academy, before a feud between the headmaster and the guldleader made them cut all ties with each-other. Parkley even had some admiration for the guildleader since it looked like the band held together well even without the support provided by the academy. So, he applied, and as quite a few people heard of him and his abilities, he was instantly accepted. But with this company, and with the knowledge he began picking up along the way, Parkley changed to the worse. He became reckless and careless, absorbed in the idea of proving his powers and establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with. He disregarded his own safety, and disobeyed orders, soon earning a new name. Now known as Sprung, he took on the more perilous jobs, and would go after bounties that were considered deadly even by the seasoned mercenaries. And one of these jobs ended badly for him.
What seemed to be a simple reconnaissance mission, turned into a clash with a sorcerer far more experienced than Sprung. He refused to retreat, and chose to fight, and paid dearly for such a mistake. Barely escaping with his life, wounded, powerless, and lost, Sprung went into hiding. It took him months to recover, and even then his mind never fully healed. He did not know whether the magic escaping through his broken horn was a cause or a symptom, but with his sorcery now unstable, he found that he could not use the full extent of his powers. The ever glowing flame above his head was a constant reminder of his failure, but instead of wallowing in self-pity, he began the trek back to the guild.
On his way he learned that he actually didn't have a place to go back to anymore. Without stable support, the lack of resources put a strain on guild to the point of bringing in no profits. Sprung heard that mercenary work was no longer worth the pay, and the company had to disband. He heard than many blamed the guildleader's incompetence, but some were talking of a rumor that another organization might've been instrumental in the guild's downfall. Either way, Sprung was now alone, and he was done with proving himself to others. He went back to the things he knew. First, gambling, then thievery, he quickly became overconfident, and crossed the wrong people. He got caught and thought that this would be the end of it, but to his surprise, he was rescued by a familiar face, one he did not think he'd see again. Farengor, the former guildleader, heard of a strange individual appearing in the city. He went to check on who that person might've been, and lo and behold, he saw Sprung. Feeling responsible, and maybe even a bit hopeful, Farengor helped Sprung get out of his predicament. Fortunately for Sprung, and unfortunately for Farengor, this was not the last time he had to plan a rescue mission..
