Description This photo was taken on September 8th 2003. This is probably my proudest and was personally my most sought after shot. One night a couple of months before, I was driving by and just happened to look to see an incredible rolling fog on the golf course mixed with the extremely bright grounds light they use to change/move sprinklers. It looked awesome. I fired back to nab my camera, but came back too late. So this night after leaving a friend's house, I seen it was foggy and wasted no time getting there to check it out(along with my camera). I seen it was even better than before as the fog was higher in the air and making the very exact image you see in the picture. So to make the image like I see it, I used a tripod and took this long exposure to my absolute delight. This picture inspires me everyday.

Incredible shot!
I have had some experiences like yours, what with seeing something great and it being too late when you finally grab a camera, but unfortunately I have not been able to see mine again.

Thank you so very much!!! I've actually been back there to take shots with my XT a few months back. Funny, but I now go by there and that light's out, and I don't remember them ever turning it off. Oh well. My best advise is to always have the camera on you.. as much as possible. I have to learn to do that too. I've missed plenty of rare cool shots.

Thank you!! I've gotten people saying that th smaller trees look kind of like ghosts, but I thought more of the alien aspect.

Looks real cool.
If you shoot this again, try hiding the light source total behind the tree. Also, if you were to photoshop out the small trees in teh front, it may look better.

The shot would probibly look much crisper on the net at 800x600 w/ an unsharpen mask of 500/.2/0

Very nice night-shot, I can only imagine how difficult it is to get the right exposure for a scene with such a wide range of light and dark as this, the fog very low to the ground is brilliant
Only thing I'd have done different is to crop some from the top and bottom of the image, might serve to draw the viewer's eye across the piece more
Nice work though, I can see why this a favourite of yours

Thank you very much for your comments. I was originally thinking of cropping some due to how large it was already but I'm big on showing as much as possible.

Cool. I'm glad someone else has that camera. I thought I was the only one. I did give it to my mother for the Digital Rebel with more pixels and quicker shooting. Thank you much for your comments.

Hey man, thanks alot for the and the :fav:. It just so happens that when I came back home late last night, I ran into thick fog. I had to take a drive around taking here and there shots(which I'll post), but I had to go back to that spot where I shot this one. It's a big golf course so I can use that huge light for taking all sorts of shots, but ran out of time. Maybe next time. Thanks again. Your gallery rocks. Great work my friend.

amazing show of light, now this is getting me inspired to break out the camera at night a bit more, I have really been neglecting the camera past few months and this is definitely the sort of thing I need to be seeing to get me back in the groove, this is a very impressive photo, especially being it wasn't one of those perfectly planned/staged photos, that makes it even better in my eyes,
I love the fog, its one of my favorite things to enjoy in nature, it seems to hide the bad and highlight the good in some magical way, and that is what this photograph is, magical, especially beig I care so little for manicured golfcourses, but the fog and light show wash it all clean in some way,

Impressive,

kindest regards,
joe

Thank you so much. It really was the kind of shot I was trying to get from the first time I seen it. Fog, to me creates mystery and an atmosphere that is none like anything else. I've been in the same boat where if I didn't use the camera for a time. It takes me only to get out and behold what can be captured and then I'm "well". Thanks again and definitely keep shooting.

Me too and three and four. Your photo reminded me of a shot I had taken in the spring of 2002. It was just like it but for some reason I never was happy with the distinction of the rays. I see you've mastered the technique. Thank you so much for your comments.

Ah not at all, you deserve the recognition! You sound as serious about your photography as i am about my sketches and my writing. I took a photography class when i was in school and that was the extent of any formal schooling there. All i work from is a digital cam but seeing your pictures has actually inspired me. My father had a Nikon camera, a nice one but the shutter began to malfunction and the older they are, I've heard the more expensive they are to fix but I may elect to do just that and try my hand at more traditional photography.
As for this photo. It is magnificent! It would be worthy to enter into a photo contest. Once again, i tip my hat and thank you for your kind words in return.
