This photo was taken on June 12th 2004. The day following the big over night flood rains, I found myself out in a flower garden and seen this ant. He wasn't moving too fast(for a change) so I got my macros on and shot this. I'm learning as I go along that insect close ups are a beast to get fully clear and you'll get a better shot in small mode. Other than some cropping and a touch of brightness, this is how it turned out.Related content

Me too, but because my photos are so big, they really don't need to be macro, but it always helps.

the bigger the picture, the more breath taking it is..in my eyes..i mean when something is so good that you can stare at it for a while then it should be BIG..bigger than life..ya know?

really well captured, but I think that if the ant had been a little more sharp it would have made the piece even better, and with a white frame it would been totaly completed.

I definitely need to craft my skills for taking close-up macros like this one. I was happy that people could make out the hair on it's "butt". I hope to someday start making my work a bit more commercial looking with the frame and name. For right now.. I'm just trying to quickly get it out there. You really should think about resizing your pics though. dont get me wrong, its aweseom to see such huge pics, but for slow ppl like me, it takes about 5 minutes to load the pic and its big. at least shrink it to 1500 or something

Thank you for your comments. The problem I have right now is that I'm in the middle of a war with those who love the big photos and those who have dial up. I for one, love them big and got away from Yahoo for this very reason. I'm thinking now, that I may just might redo a gallery in Yahoo to be able to let those with dial up view the smaller size images. I'll let you know, and thank you again.

Well, I was going to complain about the filesize, until I saw the level of detail in the fullview.
So, since I can see the ant's hairs, I suppose I'll forgive the massive resolution.
I'm jealous of your lenses.

It really does look like a scoop o' ice cream. I never noticed it before. Well thank you very much. I like my photos as big as possible for rich detail, if I can obtain it. The great thing is all I did was buy an inexpensive set of three macro filters and they work like a charm. The rest is up to my camera and my nerves."shakes"

It must be the camera because the macro filters were cheap. I haven't bought the Canon macro lens yet and wonder whether I really need it. But I'm sure they'll get me closer to the action. Thank you so very much David. Your support and friendship rocks.
