Description
She was named after her mother's favorite flower, the water lily, but her parents never thought their filly would be more fond of the frogs than the lilypads they sat on! While most ponies prefer the pristine sugar sand beaches of Horseshoe Bay, Lilypad likes wading through the Great Gurgling Swamp further inland, in search of frogs, toads, salamanders, newts and caecilians. Don't know what a caecilian is? Ask her, she'd be glad to give you an hour long lecture on their life cycle and habitat. Some ponies think she wears her flowing, tricolored mane in braids and ponytails because she's too vain to cut it, but in fact she's just too busy to make time for a haircut. Lilypad is a charmingly boisterous, talkative, and athletic pony who is passionately dedicated to protecting her beloved swamp and its inhabitants - think Steve Irwin, on all fours.

Created for the May monthly design challenge. The only design constraint was to have those particular shades of teal and yellow in the mane & tail. I didn't think they went together well, so I put a contrasting stripe of peachy-salmon between them, used almost the same color in the cutie mark and eyes, and made the body a yellow-green that was in between the two colors. The background is a heavily edited screenshot.
