Description
I really like the temporal integrity stuff they've introduced to Star Trek with the episodes "Future's End" / "Relativity" in Voy and continued in ENT with the introduction of Crewman Daniels and the temporal cold war plot. Here's why:
The design is pretty cool, the sounds are more subtle and all that. Years ago I built my first LCARS animation, so it's of course only natural if I create a TCARS animation now. Because we have always heard that the Temporal Integrity Commission scans time, yet never seen it, I decided to create my own temporal scan flash movie (made 4 versions of it so far each of them with different colours). I liked the results that much, that I'm using it now as screensaver and background on my cell phone. In this example a certain event is locked and continuesly scanned for signs of manipulation. Some of the elemts you see here are placeholders (remember, this is WIP). Sounds are partially taken from the show and filtered or created on my own.
In the best Michael Okuda tradition I've integrated a personal touch into the animation. The temporal event that is being scanned here, is event 809 (8th of September = my birtday).
Boy what a geek I am!
Let me know what you think about this WIP animation.

I would love to have this as a screensaver for my Alienware x51 desktop. Love the design features you've done . I love your work and hope for a desktop screensaver out of this someday. Keep up the excellent work

Do you have this in a larger version? And do you have the FLA file? I like to have to look at it so that I can have the sound files?
I also plan to make a journal skin based on the TCARS interface, and was wondering if I could borrow this design for it?

No I don't have this in a larger version because actually I only wanted to use this as a background on my cell phone, so I made it the size of my cell phone's screen (unfortunately my cell phone isn't supporting Flash so I had to export it as Animated GIF which obviously consumes a lot of energy to display).
And yes, of course I have the FLA file (I've made it myself, remember?) but usually I don't give my FLA files away.
However, if it's just the sound files you want, we can arrange that.

I want the sounds files at least so I can make my own interface someday. That would be great if you can get me a copy of those.
BTW, have you been to this site? - [link]
They got excellent LCARS and three TCARS in flash.
Anyways, I'm currently making an enlarged version of your file on my flash after downloading, enlarging, and screen-shooting yours, and right now, I got the main outline colored with it's original colors on a file that's 986x900 pixels. I'm going to re-color a few of the panels and give it my own style. If you like, I can copyright the original design to you. ;3
What I have in mind for the journal design is this: the main area on the right will be where the main body text goes (in it's own box with scroll-bar), and the links section will be either next to it in the smaller area, or in the smaller section on the top left. The moods would go in either one that's not occupied. The Journal's Title will go either in or above the top bar, along with Comments/Previous Entries links.

Sounds like quite an interesting idea. I wish you good luck!
Oh and I certainly won't mind at all if you give me some credit on the original design.
Keep me updated on the project's status, ok?
BTW: Where do you want me to send the sound files?

Thanks, but the main credit belongs to Michael Okuda because without him, I would have never even thought about starting 'playing around' with Flash.

Yes, but unfortunately I've been running in a few issues with my PC lately and until they are resolved, there is no way to really work on that.

Yup. Keep at it.
Ever done anything Star Trek themed but in a different direction?

Yep, quite a bit actually. As we speak there is a Star Trek podcast running on [link] called Starship Eberswalde - I'm it's main author, created the characters etc. (over 3500 listeners per week isn't that bad, eh?).

Quite something.
Reason why I ask is because I'm trying to find an artist who can render my ship into a picture and not just a blueprint as well as draw up the interiors.
Originally the ship was something that I had requested/commissioned of . I had asked him to create this ship for usage by myself in a forum RPG that I play at. The ship itself is Star Trek-like but not entirely.
Such as the drive in it is not warp but rather a "Fold Space Drive" in which it folds space and time so that it can jump from one point to another instantaneously. (as done in the film "Event Horizon" as well as an episode of Star Trek Voyager).
the other thing that I had in mind to make this ship different is the paint job - that it would be a hot rod red color instead of the regular drab gray.
If you'd like you can have a look at it -> [link]

Ouch...I'm sorry but I'm afraid I can't help you with that one as my knowledge about Rendering & Raytracing is (unfortunatly) still limited to Poser and Basic 3DSMAX Functions.
