It was the next morning and Emily was cleaning Audre while Adrian was out looking for berries. Audre looked at the brown and red egg after Emily was done cleaning him.
"Mom what's is this?" he asked.
"It's an egg. You came from one and this is your sibling but it hasn't hatched yet," said Emily.
"Cool. I'm going to have a brother or a sister," said Audre his eyes sparkling. Emily smiled. (He's so excited. I can't wait for it to hatch either.) thought Emily. Audre ran and tried to jump into a tree but he just couldn't reach the branch.
"Here let me help you," said Emily walking over to Audre.
"Mom. I can do this myself," said Audre.
"Okay," said Emily. She sat down watching as Audre attempted to get into the tree. (He's so determined.) thought Emily. Audre ran and jumped. He tried to grab the branch but his paw was just an inch off. Then, Adrian came back with some berries in his bandanna that he was carrying in his mouth. He looked at Audre and asked, "What is he doing?"
"He's trying to jump into the tree. I can't believe how determined he is," said Emily.
"Well. It's not a bad thing to be determined," said Adrian. Audre turned around and ran over to Adrian.
"Dad you brought home food," said Audre.
"Yes I did," said Adrian with a smile. Then, we ate leaving some berries for tonight. Audre was running around the place to burn off some fuel. Emily smiled.
"He's so energetic," said Emily.
"Yeah," said Adrian. Then, Audre was sitting by the egg. It was a half moon tonight.
"Mom! Dad! The egg is flashing," said Audre excitedly. Emily and Adrian rushed over and it was true the egg flashed.
"That means it's going to hatch soon," said Adrian.
"Really," said Audre. Adrian nodded. Audre's eyes glittered and he smiled. The egg flashed again, even brighter this time. Audre's eyes glittered with excitement. Then, the egg started glowing and taking shape. First the tail and then the ears. After the glowing stopped there was an eevee in front of us. It had brown fur. A red scruff, tail, and eyes. It had black ear tips. Emily smiled and Audre walked over with curiosity. The eevee ran behind Emily and said, "Don't hurt me."
"Audre don't scare her," said Emily.
"Sorry," said Audre. Emily turned to her and smiled. She stayed close to Emily and then looked at Adrian. She walked over to him.
"Hello," said Adrian. She smiled and quietly said," Hi." Adrian smiled. Audre looked at her and she looked back at him.
"That's your brother Audre," said Adrian to the eevee. She walked over to him.
"Audre," she said slowly making sure to pronounce it correctly.
"Yeah," said Audre.
"Audre," she said again and then she rubbed herself against him. Audre smiled at her and she smiled back.
"Brother," she said. Then, she ran over to a bush with many dark red flowers. Audre ran over to her. She picked one with her teeth and set it on the ground. Audre sniffed it and smiled. Then, she did the same. Emily and Adrian walked over. She had picked a rose. It lay on the ground with the moonlight shining on it and on the eevee.
"I think rose would be a good name for you," said Adrian.
"Yeah," said Emily and Audre.
"Rose," said Rose.
"Yes. That's your name," said Adrian. Rose smiled and looked at the Rose for what she was named after. Audre looked at her. The rose was the same color as her eyes. Then, they all went to sleep.
