+++++++++++ "Of course I can fit in your car!" -suggestion via an anonymous commenter +++++++++++

Melissa wasn't going to let trivial things like comfort, personal space considerations, or decorum stop her from squeezing into this clown car. If she vowed she'd fit, then she would.

She tried the door handle again, but her right breast and hip were rubbery, blubbery bumpers preventing it from latching. She was going to have to move further over. "I'm going to scooch to the left, OK? There might be some... contact involved. Don't freak out." When Melissa shifted her bulk, the car rocked on its springs, creaking, complaining. She felt her thigh try to engulf the shift lever. Her chest slid along the dash and deformed against Nate's shoulder and arm. Melissa jerked the door shut and this time it latched with an unconvincingly tinny click.

Rather than being triumphant about her achievement, she just felt hungry and cranky and gross. Nate's econobox was a metal straitjacket. Every part of her body was squished and mashed against something else. Her boobs were piled so high in front of her that they made seeing out of the windshield difficult. "I don't wanna hear any airbag jokes."

"Noted." Nate pulled out of his parking spot slowly, working the stick shift that was halfway embedded in her leg with as much care as possible. So far he was handling the situation well.

So well that she felt guilty bringing up the matter of their bet. "Since I was able to fit inside your ridiculous car, I believe you owe me lunch."

"I'm a man of my word." He didn't sound too broken up about it.

It's nice to see Melissa again.

She appears to have gained a little weight since that day at the fair.

I like how living in Location City is so fattening.

I was re-reading the story in woot.iiichan.net/index.php?ima… and I was looking for the part where I mention that Clive is in jail, but I think I was saving that tidbit for a followup picture where the two girls are tipsy, drinking a pitcher or margaritas. The problem being that I never ended up drawing that- whoops!

The car was actually pretty fun to draw, even if it was heavily referenced. I got to combine some features from existing vehicles and make up others.

That can't be conducive to a safe driving environment; it's clear that his eyes are most certainly not on the road. I doubt that car can make anywhere near the sorts of speeds required to total the vehicle with its current passenger however (braking might prove interesting however, Melissa might wind up busting the windscreen in the case of a sudden stop)

w-oo-t In reply to yamibanner [2013-11-20 03:16:36 +0000 UTC]

I agree- the whole car should be leaning to the right. The car was cobbled together from two different reference cars, and I think I was looking at the 4 door when I decided to lower the front passenger side only. With such a sort wheelbase it doesn't make much sense.

My only regret is we can't see Melissa more clearly.

Anyways, you did a good job on the car; it's always nice to see you work on your props. The story was also great. I like seeing that a lot of your Oekaki work is being influenced by the board and a few of your girls are getting heavier. I have to wonder, is Location City a sort of culinary capital or hub?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

w-oo-t In reply to RequiemBlockerHL [2013-11-20 10:29:17 +0000 UTC]

At first I had sketched her as a new character, but then figured it would be just as easy to bring back an older one. It seems like some of her friend Cindy's habits have been wearing off on her.

Location City's culinary scene changed in the mid 1980's when the municipal government passed two unrelated laws: the Equitable Pay Act, which aimed to narrow the gap between male and female worker's compensation, and the Equal Accessibility Act,* which mandated businesses install things like ramps, double doors, a certain ratio of wider seats, and larger bathroom stalls. Some establishments, including many national food chains, balked at the associated renovation costs. Other companies used complaints about the Equal Accessibility Act as a smokescreen for their real gripe: the Equitable Pay Act. The result was a lot of closed doors across the city. Critics of the laws cried government overreach. The narrative in the national news was that Location City shot itself in the foot.

That's not how it played out. Small family restaurants saw increased business. New ones opened. The most successful places became local franchises. As the years passed, the two laws began to appear less radical to the chains that fled in the 80's. They returned to the city but never reached their former market saturation. With so many choices, and fewer familiar names to fall back on, dining in Location City can be an intimidating task. Luckily there are a lot of online resources as well as plenty of word of mouth. Everyone likes to share the name of the little hole-in-the-wall place they found in Brompton, or tell you what food truck to keep an eye out for downtown. The diversity of food options is one reason Location City ranks so high in quality of life.

*this might have been named something differently before. I can't remember what it was though.
