I've been meaning to ask you after reading somewhere (I forget where now)
you wrote that real artists aren't on DA
I've thinking about this for a while now
and I would like you to ellaborate if you don't mind.
What is a "real" artist these days?
It doesn't seem like anything is real art anymore
Someone told me recently that art needs to incorporated into everything we do like you see in ancient cultures
At school we were asked What is art and nobody really could explain it
like it should be separate instead of being a part of everyday life and science and nature.

HA, yes I did comment saying that once, most likely a few times. My friend, partly sarcasm, there are many "REAL" artists here on DA. There is a side thought on this comment though. Mainly pertaining to the fact that artists that focus and keep professional individual practices outside of community sites tend to be...
1. Just that focused on work rather than community participation on sites like this.
2. Holding an individual demeanor with themselves as an artist - hence, not being on a community site, rather having their own site domain.
3. Fueling their career more avidly in prospects that will help their career directly, rather than being on a site community such as this that is basically just sharing free art with people. Getting feedback, feeding ego etc. When time could be better spent dealing with people and other venues that would directly 'help' their career in a professional manner.
Not that DevArt doesn't do 'some of this' in very 'slight' ways, but sheerly doesn't not help an artists career such as other avenues that an artist could take to promote ones endeavor.
Hopefully that clarifies slightly to my sarcasm.

Yeah, Jim's a bit stiff, a bit formulaic. Tex, not a fan of him either, but eh, to each is there own, none the less both good comic artists in their own fashion. Lotta the hatching was lost in this scan, but I'll try and post the rest of the image later and try to keep it true to the hatch job.
