The photo looks like it was overexposed. I don't know if it was intentional but watch out for that.

It was intentional on this shot. I wanted it to look a little washed out.
Thanks for the comment.

I really like the way the shadows create a seperate layer. Good one!

The shadows of the tables are intriguing, caught my eye, nice capture.

I like the concept a lot and sometimes we can't take the exact shot we'd like so I'm sort of betwixt and between on the comments below. On one hand the shot doesn't quite have the impact it could, but on the other I like what has been achieved with the tables and shadows. I think this is a perfect shot to labour what I feel is the most important rule of photography, It's always nice when somebody else appreciates your work but it is your work, what actually matters is do you like it.

I'm just happy you used the phrase "betwixt and between"

When photographing abstract subjects -in this case the circles's patterns and sizes- it's better to concentrate and focus on them without bringing foreign elements into the shot -in this case the floor and the fence. Backgrounds are a nice touch when they put the photo subject in context but no so when those don't add that much to an image.
I would have concentrated more on the shadows or on the tables but from a high view point. Maybe even a mixture of both. That way, more detail about their patterns would have been brought-up and the recognizable shapes would have made less of challenge to come-up with a nice composition.
As always, just my .02 cents!

May I respectfully disagree about the floor - I think the bricks with the reflected glass tables give this photo much of its charm, and whilst I completely understand about the fence, I don't find it too intrusive. Yes, it would be great if you could just walk up a fire escape and point your lens downwards, but... maybe there wasn't one?
My question to wagn18 is - where is the colour coming from? Have you desaturated the photo in-camera, or by software? Or was it actually Delft blue when you photographed this scene?

Sorry, I never saw this comment for some reason or I would have responded before now.
If I remember correctly I desaturated the color afterward with software as though I had a purple filter. I may have done it in camera, honestly I don't remember.
When I took this photo I knew that I wanted it to be purpley, but i find it easier just to change the color after the photo then to carry different colored filters with me.

I agree, actually that's what I meant to say by "would have concentrated more on the shadows or on the tables but from a high view point. Maybe even a mixture of both."
I know having some place to get a higher perspective is too much asking but you can always held your camera up high and shoot without looking into the viewfinder. Makes sense now?

Yeah. I was actually behind a metal fence when I took this picture and couldn't get any closer. I tried cropping out most of the background stuff.
I see your point though for future shots.
Thanks

The most important aspect of photography is the one you already have under control: the will to go outside and shoot!
