Description
I mentioned in my previous art post that I have a real full time job now!For the semester, I'll be working at a (hilariously and catastrophically) large aviation corporation. It is so large, apparently, that they told me to report to the wrong location on one corner of the country when I was expected to show up in another. Yep. It's a mess.
So instead of working on aircraft engines, as I was told to expect, I'm now expected to push paperwork for said engines. As of this writing, I am still fighting the bureaucracy to get me involved with more hardware. Fingers crossed that I can see more planes in the next few months D:
I think my career path is slowly turning into Blade Knight's: I mirror Blade's engineering training to make battleships and planes...a few years down the line I will probably be starving and sedentary until some stranger knights me.

Congrats on the job, warpy! Sounds like they're off to a rough start, but hopefully they can get their act together, and you can get to actually use some of your engineering skills. (I'm assuming 'pushing paperwork' means that you aren't actually getting to use any of the skills you spent time and money in engineering school to obtain. I find that insulting. Then again, I'm sure not many people want to do actual work at a job; you're probably the first :b) Either way, hope this job goes well! Is it just for the semester, or is it a chance to get an actual, real job?
I like the contrast between this piece and the last Cubicle too; nice little symoblisms and details too :3
(Haha, that's what happens when you like a character. Of course, I don't know what that says about me then, but it fits for you :3 Actually, I'd been meaning to ask, do you draw Blade Knight in these pictures because that's her job in-universe, or because you can relate to her, or both? Or something else? I'd been curious for a while.)

Thank you Cos! To their defense, the paperwork they had in mind for me does require knowledge of plane engines (which I don't currently have). In my defense, I have to see actual planes and engines to understand how the mechanical mishaps I'm supposed to write about happen to the plane engines. I can do trivial unchallenging things just to collect a paycheck, but what fun is there in that? [:
I don't think I explained anywhere else, but I'm in a program that allows me to alternate between semesters of study and full-time work -- that means I go back to school in the summer and fall, and again back to working in the spring of next year. I'd rather get paid to do fun major-related things than be stuck learning about things I don't get a chance to use :U
A lot has happened between drawing these Cubicle pictures and I think the contrast between them reflects that. I'm sure the color symbolism breakdown I did recently provides a few extra layers of symbolism too, I'm sure you were able to notice c:
Haha, I'm glad you asked about Blade! I envisioned Blade Knight's backstory to be like this long before I made up my mind about what I wanted to do professionally (this painting comes to mind , since I did it just about three years ago when all I knew about planes were their symbolism and aesthetics: )
I guess it's one of those strange cases where fiction shapes reality, and the other way around reinforces it c:

Hm, maybe this is being too logical, but I think your idea of actually getting to learn about what they want you to write about is a pretty good one :b I feel you on the paycheck though; like you said, you picked the job because you wanted to do major-related things rather than learning/doing something irrelevant.
I've heard of programs like that though...I'm just not sure of any of the details, because the college I'm currently attending in my hometown is surrounded by big power companies and architecture firms, so I won't get to look into anything related to my majors until I get to my 'real' school next semester. What classes do you normally take over the summer, though? I'm in a small college now, so there's typically not many classes for me to take over the summer as they're taught online or by people who don't normally teach the classes. Do they have better selection at your university? [:
That's cool! I kinda figured that (from reading descriptions :b); I remember that picture as well. It's awesome that Blade was your engineering inspiration; there aren't enough characters out there that are both cool and into more technical fields...That's one reason why I really like your interpretation of her over other people's, your Blade is original and smart. Both of which are very good qualities that need to be seen more in characters/gijinkas :b

Thanks! It'll get more interesting when they let me see the planes, that's for sure c:
