Description So many words

I spent a really, really long time making this, because it's two years' worth of washable marker experimentation summarized in one wordy tutorial.

I've put a lot of effort into figuring out how to make cheap washable Crayola markers look like watercolor paintings, so I thought I'd share how I usually do it.

The tutorial itself barely even scratches the surface of how I actually paint things besides a Kirby, so I'm probably going to do a separate walkthrough of how I paint other things (like hair, buildings, environments, and the like).

Please let me know if this helps you, and if you've tried this!

Here are the paintings I used as examples in the tutorial:

If you like what you see, you can also commission me! Here's the info for my traditional art commissions, and I'd be happy if you'd take a look!

Ah, thank you! I didn't know either until I remembered how I once tried to salvage an art project by washing the marker off the page. I put two and two together from that flashback and the rest is history, I guess!

You're welcome! Haha, some of the greatest inventions were accidents, so why not that?

I'm impressed at how you can colour in such small spaces; like if this were me, pretty sure the colours would be bleeding everywhere, ugh. XD

At least the markers keep things somewhat manageable, because I can draw the colors exactly where I want them before I add water; I'm sure if I used those fancy liquid watercolor tubes it'd be a bloody mess [x

Ooh, that is cool! I had no idea that is how you did those pieces. Dang it, now another medium I want to try.

Haha, thanks! Crayola washable markers are a pretty left-field drawing tool, but for my purposes, they do work pretty well!
