Description So this one is finished. I am mostly very happy with it. I learned a great deal and while I have issues with parts of it, I think I have taken a leap forward in understanding the possibilities of graphite.

18x24 70lb paper
2H to 8B Koh-I-Noor graphite pencils
9B Koh-I-Noor woodless pencil (this is NICE!)
Tortillions, q-tips, sandpaper, felt, chamois

Digital camera to create image, contrast etc adjusted in Photo Paint.

Border added digitally.

this is just so full of natureΒ΄s power, I must say! I always envy those who are so talented with painting or drawing water, but I know those people (like you) have probably practised it many many years heh, unlike me

wavefreak In reply to Jefrma [2006-08-03 17:45:52 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for your kind words. Maybe part of it is that I really love the ocean. It is easier when the subject has a piece of your heart.

true, true You own any natureCDΒ΄s with sounds of ocean and itΒ΄s life? I have a dolphin- and whaleCD and they both include lovely ocean-voices + peaceful music on the backround ^ ^

wavefreak In reply to Jefrma [2006-08-03 19:02:01 +0000 UTC]

Actually, I prefer to work in silence. The problem with music is that when it is playing I want to stop and listen to it with my undivided attention. Whale songs are cool, though.

Wow that looks so real! So powerful! You can feel the power and can imagine the deathly grip they would have on you when you get caught under them. Bad English but I hope you know what I mean!

I actaully passed over this quite a few times in my Devwatch thing (for unseen artists) thinking twas a photo, which is rare for me, I can usually pick pencil drawings, so you did well, water is friggen hard man.

You probably have allready, but if you you should really check out dizzykid for someone who is HAWT with graphite..

Anyways top job :fav:
