Description
Part 2/5The term nostalgia describes a yearning for the past, often in idealized form. The word is a learned formation of a Greek compound, consisting of νόστος (nóstos), meaning "homecoming", a Homeric word, and ἄλγος (álgos), meaning "pain, ache". It was described as a medical condition, a form of melancholy, in the Early Modern period, and became an important trope in Romanticism.
In common, less clinical usage, nostalgia sometimes includes a general interest in past eras and their personalities and events, especially the "good old days", such as a sudden image, or remembrance of something from one's childhood.
This image takes me back to my childhood, and all the good memories that are stored in my mind.

Nice photo. It reminds me of a famous American photo from the 1930s. Nice capture.

Great photo, especially the composition with the lines in the foreground.
Nostalgia or not, it reminds me how polluted the air used to be when I was a child in the 1950s.
