He reminds me very much of a sparrow chick I rescued when I was a kid and living with my grandparents. He had fallen out of the nest and broken his wing. We never could release him because he couldn't fly very well and would quickly become a snack for the barn cats. His name was Fred and He lived inside, eating the best wild bird seed, took baths in the kitchen sink, ruled his territory with frightening ferocity and generally terrorized all who entered his domain The only people who could even come close to him were grandpa, grandma and me. Even think of touching grandma for any reason and he would attack and drive you away.

that is one of the things about Manitoba Brian... we get a lot of sun. It is one of the reasons I like living here, I may complain about the cold, but we get more sunshine that just abut anywhere else.
I hope it gets better for you soon.

He was close dave. I was able to take a number of pictures of him and a few buddies too. One of them took a bath and was trying to dry off. (It is cold here but in the warm spots water is melting, so he must have found some dripping water.) I hope he dried off enough to survive the night.

Thanks Vasilina
Sparrows as a group are very nice birds..... house sparrows on the other hand.... are VERY scrappy little guys, they love to fight and push one another around. They are more noisy than other sparrows, but maybe also more fun to watch.

haha))) we have a one group of sparrows near our house, they usually sit on the apple tree in the yard. They are noisy indeed))) They are the firs birds, whose voices we hear early in the morning)

Winters are pretty hard here, so I feed them for most of the winter. It means that they hang around all winter and yes.. that is the first cheep cheep we hear too. lol.
The summer birds have maybe another month or so before they start to arrive, although bald eagles have been flying north since the middle of February.

lol) the same is here too, winters are harsh and cold, so we feed birds - just put the crambs on a window ledge)))
And the summer birds will start arriving only in about a month too)))
I guess, there are not so many differences as Canada and Russia are in the same climatic zone)
Though there are no bald eagles in Russia lol)

Yes I think there are many similarities, probably more than we even know.
I guess bald eagles are a bird of the american continents, though I don't know if they go as far as south america. I don't know anything about the birds in Russia, but you must have a number of raptors there too.

yeah, a lot - falcons, gyrfalcons, vultures and etc. )
There are some endemic birds, as every area in the world has its own animals and birds) But we also have a lot of the same birds as in other countries - sparrows, chickadees, titmice, woodpeckers and etc.
(I believe, sparrows live everywhere lol)

The lens is a 150-500mm sigma. I am really quite impressed with it, especially when it is calibrated properly to the camera.
I owned a sigma 50-500 mm and found it was very difficult to use. I think the problem was the zoom range, it was just too large to correct properly.
