Description
Weather and the undulating seasons of the prairie seem like a dance to me. The variety of movement seems endless, always turning, changing. It is a vibration of life that bursts into existence in the spring, but never totally dies out even in the depths of winter. The prairie, like all the other places in our world holds a magic that never disappoints.(Prairies, South Central Manitoba)

I have never seen a prairie, at least not in this lifetime. I do find them compelling though. The idea of such large areas without trees is very foreign to someone who has grown up in the southeast US.

Actually the prairie has lots of trees. It is rare that you do not see some of them. However, they usually follow rivers and streams, or are in areas that cannot be farmed, like valleys. One of the hardest things to do is to get a picture without trees somewhere, just to give the feeling of unending grass. But it is only a feeling.

You taught me something new I had always thought of prairies as totally treeless. Thanks for the information.

I love how clear this picture is! And I like that old barn. It reminds me of an old barn by my house that's falling in on itself. It's kind of sad in a way though, because those barns hold so many memories.

thanks,
There is a kind of nostalgia for me too in these old buildings. Part of taking the pictures is to preserve some of the history.

As if one of the hay rolls went over the house...

This is so beautiful... don't you think it feels like the house is going to move and start rolling forward to shape itself into a ball too? And vanish into the prairie.
