Description
Finally done! Took me more than a year, but I finally got some decent paint on my custom built Old One Eye. I still need to base him, and may update pics ofter that is done, but for now it's worth showing him off.I went with a paint scheme based on the traditional GW colors for OOE, but I put a more natural pattern to it. Instead of the traditional black base color on him, I went with my army color, which I call cockroach brown. This base coat is an under coat of ochre brown covered by a dark cherry varnish. Other coloring is acrylic with a clear coat finish.

I didn't expect to find a conversion of One eye here on Deviant!

I know! Right? I was surprised the first time I stumbled on 40K pics here.

This is by far the best Old One Eye conversion⦠no The best Old One Eye I've ever seen. Not just the conversion but the paint job too. You should consider entering that in the next Golden Demon Award!

I'd love to get GW to take a look at 'em. Just need to figure out if I can submit pics or something online.
And thanks for the praise. I had high hopes for it when I started it, but even I was blown away by the final product. I'll see about getting up pics of the finished fig with basing some time.

Crap in a monkey-fightin' hat. My figs never looked that good. Nicely done!

Haha. Thanks. Minis are just little sculptures and I guess my artistic talents express equally well on a 3D canvas.

WOW! Great paint job!
Is that a Tyranid? It looks like a Tyranid but I am no expert and i don't want to assume. You know what happens when you assume.
But, yeah, great paint job. Dig how you managed to put in reds and yellows in there and made them look natural, like they belong and not look garrish like that period in GW painting when fantasy goblins had bright red spear shafts.
Good work!

Thanks!
It is indeed a tyranid, one of the named ones. I used a combination of the traditional Gamesworkshop colors for him and my army colors. Work has been crazy the last year, and it took me some time to get around to finishing him (a pic of the unpainted model is here in the gallery).
