Description Here's Sorano's pretty Latias, Callie, and Callie's handsome mate, Freefall (Latios pal of Sorano's companion, Raive).

Callie may look a bit on the shrimpy side (even for a 'Tias), but the triangular blaze on her chest is proof enough of her adulthood. Her development went a bit more slowly than usual, as poachers tore her from her mother's nest as an infant and sold her to a private collector via a (highly illegal) Shadow Auction. Fortunately Callie was rescued from this dodgy situation by the less-fortunately-named Pokemon Thief, Sorano--and thereby she's pretty well-adjusted in life...just kind of scrawny. ;>

Hope you like!

This is actualy a good thing seeing these more "realistic" pokemon, I must hand it to you that you did a very awsome job. It is certanly an adjustment after seeing so many "anime" pokemon (not saying it's bad, just slightly over done) that I come to see somthing that makes it come to life.

And there was me thinking that Pokemon would be very difficult to depict realistically. Fantastic material you got there, you seem very very comfortable with erm.. what's the world, realising? No. Constructing, that's it, you seem very comfortable with modelling and constructing more realistic anatomy with Critters that're very... abstract is the way I'll describe them. I've got a long way to go. But this is a shining example of the way to do it if you're a Poke-fan but want something a wee bit more sophisticated than the candy-coloured anime-form we're so used to. Truly brilliant.

Fantastic! Thanks for that rave review! Truly, if I'm going to go ahead and write a Pokemon story and try to maintain some dignity as an adult and a holder of a BFA, I'm going to try and make the critters look as logical as I possibly can. ;D That, and such a style just meets my abilities better...ultra-simplified creatures that make no biological sense can be surprisingly difficult to draw...O.o

You've got that right.. there's no structure to go on! Welp, I'm sure you're going to do absolutely wonderfully; you've already got several mint comic strips up and a hugely colourful cast of characters; the outlook is good. I just had to keep an eye on ye in the end. What's BFA by the way?

Bachelor's in Fine Arts. I think I read you were British...perhaps you call it something else?

Anyway, I do appreciate it. The anthro Pokemon and the realistic beast Pokemon are for two different projects, and I'll likely be posting plenty more where both came from. ;>

Oooh, we call them BA's over here and then the subject speciality. In my case, it's Illustration in Children's Publishing.. chergh, I wish I'd done Sequential Illustration though (that's more comic-book based)... Hmm.

Eh...call it what we will, it didn't get me a job anyway. But I've got a part-time gig doing commissions involving subjects I actually like, so I don't complain...much. ;>

aokamidu In reply to WeaverNocturne [2007-11-26 03:25:58 +0000 UTC]

Lucky.... chergh... most of my commissions are quite dull (although I haven't had the time for a proper big one for months) and human-based... mainly club promotions. Oh well. That's the way the world goes round.

Well, my day job is a wank, but my little part-time gig is at least a happy one. I'm lucky the anthro community have been so accepting of me. <3 As for your club posters, shoot, that sounds pretty big time! Bigger time than most, anyway. ;>

Btw--my non-Pokemon-related anthro stuff is over here if you're ever interested...

It's worth it. The hand colouring really pays off, and sets it apart from the more "flat" computer colour most people do.
