Description
Ladybugs getting together in the coldIf you are interested to get this as a print, please place a print-request or write me a note!
Nearly 100 percent of my pictures are available as prints, but after over 14 months without a single sale I am totally bored of uploading and editing prices for the prints.
I have thousand better ways to waste my time!

I didn't know there were so many colors. This is really pretty how they are all huddled together.

There are more than 5k ( [link] ) of Ladybugs in the world. And even this 5k species vary in one species very much. You know the Red one with the two black dots? It is the same species as the black one with the 4 red dots. It is called Adalia bipunctata .

Years ago didn't know. Thought there was only one true ladybug, and the rest were mimics, some harmful. And then knew there were quite a few different ones, again some mimics, some harmful. But, whoa, never knew there were THAT many! Whew! Are some of them newer branches of interbreeding/mutations, or have there always been that many? I've even had one think I was an aphid. It bit me! But because they are so beneficial, cute, and pretty, I just gently flicked it off my arm, and let it fly away.

Some time ago there were much more species than today. They reduced the ammount of species through putting all found variations (former species) of a species together in one species. Luzerne-Ladybug (Subcoccinella vigintiquatuorpunctata) has around 4000 variations in only one species. Btw... the species-counter of the "Ladybug-Collection"-Shot says only 3. The three ones with the high ammount of dots are all the same (and dominant) species Harmonia axyridis or Asian Ladybeetle.
Ladybugs and their Larvae are predators. And the cuteness or beautieness of them is only in our brains. Take a look at this one . Compare it with this one .

Still cute. I rather like the beneficial bugs, as long as they aren't deriving their benefits off me. Eek!

Das ist dann wohl ein Klassentreffen. Wie schon der Kollege oben fragte - sind sie "freiwillig" der Einladung gefolgt?
