Tochukaso Mushroom: "Host, initiate reproductive cycle...."
Parasect is a bug/plant hybrid pokemon that lives in caves and can deliver nasty slash and x-scissor attacks.
Its mind is infected by a tochukaso, a parasitic mushroom which has taken over Parasect's will.
Here, the tochukaso demands Parasect begin its reproductive cycle with a female Crustle.
Pokedex Entries:
"A host-parasite pair in which the parasite mushroom has taken over the host bug. Prefers damp places."
"It stays mostly in dark, damp places, the preference not of the bug, but of the big mushrooms on its back."
"When nothing's left to extract from the bug, the mushrooms on its back leave spores on the bug's egg."
Horrifying.

I honestly think this is the creepiest poke-molestion theme I've seen. Even more than the blatant ones displayed all over Google Images. And while attempted rape isn't a pleasing theme, your art has managed to make a statement using the canon provided. That takes some doing.

Yes, I wondered about the relationship between Parasect and the mushroom on its back. I would assume that since the mushroom has control over Parasect's will for habitat, what else? I'm sure it would want Parasect to reproduce to plant its own spores about on Paras eggs (even though this is a Crustle and the mushrooms wouldn't take fruit).
What a crazy thought ... and to think it may be perfectly normal from the Parasect's position.

So, someone could say that their Parasect developped a split-personality, where both the mushroom and the bug are still sapient, sharing one body.

Yes! And it seems most of the time, the mushroom wins out. I would believe it would have parasect breed through out it's life, possibly to spread its spores and/or the bug is close to death for a new host.
This background was done with many layers, about 20+ layers went into this.
I used smudge tool, lasso tool w/soft brush, and lots of hand painting. Most of the textures are from lasso tool, and color variation from layering and reducing opacity over and over.
Though most of my style uses cool colors and darkness to bring about light vs most styles of using light as a main background/foreground vs shadow.
Here, shadows over take the image and the light is amplified. I like that look. : )

Its eyes are white due to the Tochukaso's possession of it.
Parasect is by far one of my favorite creepy pokemon.
