That scene reminded me of how Katara was able to calm down Aang when he went into the Avatar state after the sand benders stole Appa. Ironically Cynder was actually voiced by the same voice actress as Katara in The Eternal Night.Β

I was browsing DA and came across this. Nice job! It instantly made me think of a the song End Of Time by Lacuna Coil. [link] It just seems to fit so perfectly.
Spyro was always one of my favorite PS1 games, I never got into the newer series though. I may have to pick it up some time.

Just won ANB on ebay so I guess I'll be seeing what it's like. DotD is ridiculously expensive for how old it is, I still want it though.

I can respect that. But my opinion still is that DOtD isn't a true open world game. For example, in the original games you could pretty much go where ever you could see in a level as long as you didn't hit the boundaries, which were placed in reasonable positions that made common sense like a level floating in the sky that you died if you fell off or an invisible wall way out of the way and marked by pylons. DOtD however limits you with the camera, unmarked invisible walls, and flight height which are really noticeable.
I said that a love interest isn't vital to A GAME, not this one in particular. Cynder was a huge part of the plot for the Legend series. There is no telling how good or bad it would have been without her because the whole plot would have been different from the start of production.
You know what they say, to each his own.

I agree that the gameplay in the originals gets a little repetitive but I disagree with calling it boring. Three hours is about the limit for me on any gaming session anyway. The Legend series I consider far more repetitive, especially in the first two games. They basically keep throwing waves of bad guys at you and it ends up becoming: walk a bit, wave of enemies, rinse and repeat. The enemies also lack variety, most of them are the same four guys, using the same attacks, just wearing different cloths. The originals also had a huge thing that the Legend series lacked, true free roaming and collectibles. ANB had no required collectibles and there weren't that many in TEN and DOtD. They also tend to lock you on a predetermined path, almost like in the original Crash games, that you can't deviate too far from, if at all in some cases. DOtD was the worst for this in that they gave you what appeared to be an open world but it was usually filled with invisible walls, wind gusts, and a camera that basically forces you to go on a predetermined route in most levels.
Ember I don't think ever showed up in the original three games. As far as I know she first showed up, along with Flame, in AHT which is far too cartooney for me. As for a love interest, I don't consider that vital to a game. Spyro was pretty much acting his age (11-12) in the original games. When I was 11-12 I thought girls and love were gross which is about what Spyro thinks when he sees Hunter falling in love. The games were also aimed at kids in that age group so it makes since that they would try to connect with what kids were thinking at that age. As a result it was also more cartooney and lighthearted than dark and serious. Buy hey, I still watch cartoons so I'm alright with that. Sometimes you need something that isn't so serious. I honestly like the ambiance in the first game the most out of all the Spyro games, the music especially.
The Legend series did have a much better, more involving, story but as I said before they skimped on the gameplay. I beat ANB in 7 hours my first time through which is a bit quick. Not to mention, there aren't that many levels in the first two games. I think the original Spyro had more levels than the ANB and TEN combined! If they had more levels they could have advanced the story so much more and given a much longer, more satisfying gaming experience.

I never really get obsessed enough with stuff to get the merchandise that goes with it though the legend series did greatly renew my interest in Spyro. You see, when I was a kid I loved the original Spyro on the PS1 but was not happy with all the gameplay changes they did in the 2nd and 3rd games. Then my brother rented EtDF for his Gamecube, I played it for 15 min, concluded it was junk, and that Spyro games other than the original weren't worth playing anymore so I never really paid any attention to the new ones. Around the time ANB came out though (was unaware it was worth playing) I saw a Spyro plush in a prize grabber machine. Having loved the original Spyro game on the PS1 I kind of wanted to get it but I have NEVER won anything out of those stupid machines so I didn't try, I was getting a little old for plushies anyway. I did take a pic of it with my phone though. Then one day this spring I was board and searched "Spyro" on DA just for kicks... I was a bit shocked by how much of a fandom this little guy has and the quality of work people were putting out for him. It made me wonder "Who is Cynder and all these other characters that I haven't heard of before?" I had just bough a Wii on Ebay and one of the games it came with was horrible so I figured there was no way ANB could be as bad as this game that I didn't want. So, I sold the one and bought the other. Now I have all three in the series. Its a shame that the quality of the gameplay didn't match the quality of the story but I still enjoyed the games. It makes me sad how many times the two original mascots for Sony (Crash and Spyro) have ended up being trashed and shortchanged to make a quick buck by the company that owns them. Its a shame they weren't shown the same creative passion and respect that Mario has gotten most of his days.

i agree with all of that lol. except i liked the legend series much more than the original. ok just think about something ok,(back to the original series) i loved these games, i had bought all of them and played all of them. BUT! there were 3 thing's that i was annoyed over. 1 the game play got old after first three hours that you played one of them. 2 there was no love interest in the original's (the annoying pink bit*h ember doesn't count). and 3 a bit to fluffy and happy unicorn rainbows for my taste. so..........how happy do you think i was when they added great fighting, with great graphics. a shady, pretty, PERFECT, and i mean perfect love interest (Cynder might be my fav game character ever) and it takes place in the middle of a war where your fighting for survival (and a GREAT storyline).Β

that is all rather true. but 1 even though ANB is repetitive; it wasn't like the originals, they made it to where you wouldn't care about it as much by always keeping VERY aware of you surroundings . you never know when one of those dredwings are gunna drop enemy's on you head wile your health is blinking. so you don't really pay much attention to it, as for the originals; you could do nothing but be bothered by the repetitiveness of it "ok he's gunna run at me; and then im gunna shoot him with fire, boss fight. ok im gunna let him run at me and then burn him wile he rest's" every time.
and this is just my opinion, but i liked the open world in DOTD much more. i mean don't get me wrong, spyro 3 was AMAZING with the open world. but to me DOTD is one of the best games iv ever played (and im going to defend it with my life XD)
"love interest's" ok i wan't you to tell me how good this game would'v been without cynder, that's right; it would be AWFUL!!!!! ALL 3 GAMES are revolved around her. and also; with the spyro series STILL going up because skylander's (forgive me lord for speaking that horrid name) they would of give'n him someone eventually, whether it was Cynder, emb- (gag)ember, or the weird unicorn thing that people have started pairing him withΒ because of skylander's. and even though they don't follow through with spyroxcynder in the skylander series; i think we all know better. lol and in the originals it didn't really matter; you could almost always find a glitch in the game to where you could go through the boundaries.
and you know what else DOTD has? FLYING!!!!!!!! I was amazed when I found out you could fly, and even more amazed when I saw how well the flying was put together.Β

Your Welcome
(omg i just got a Brain blast xD) (all from songs by Nickleback, Disturbed, 5FDP, Linkin Park, Three Days Grace, Two Steps from Hell, and many others) (all based for Spyro, Cynder, and their world)
' Its "Never Too Late", If and "When we Stand Together", we can take on the world! We just need to get back up and come "Back for More"! "In the End", the War will be over and we all shall be free.....The "Hearts of Courage" will always be "remembered" for their "sacrifice" in the war and these hard times...Peace is now upon us!
S- "The Darkness" has covered me and taken over, its an "Old Friend" of "Mine"...it wants me to harm those I love...I need a "Hero" to save me from this "Monster" in me...I can take this, I have created "My Own Hell"...This "Hell"!
I'm "Coming Down", falling from this ledge. Everything is lost,Everything! I have nothing left to fight for! For I am a "Broken Soul", with a beast living inside of me!
C- You are never Lost, and you are no alone... You are not a Monster... Ignore the "Whispers in the Dark"... I will not allow this Demon to "Crucify" you like it nearly once did me... Do not all into this "Hate".... "The Animal" must not be released... listen to the sound of my voice, this voice will "Guide you Home"! '
I think i had too much of a inspiration with all of this...i think i went over board xD
Its been so long since i have had this happen xD

On one hand, they end up saving the world, if this is DotD.
... on another hand, since they look older... *theorizing mode ACTIVATE!*
Malefor was nothing but a puppet, a pitiable victim of the prophecy crafted by the Dark Realm to 'harvest' the Dragon Realm. Destroying Malefor did nothing more than delay the inevitable. To actually end the cycle, Spyro must destroy the source of the curse (Dark Will) before it can corrupt him.
In short, DotD was only the beginning.
And if Spyro and Cynder don't set out to end the threat... well, eventually the threat will find them. Over the years, the Dark Power flow will not stop and will just get stronger until the love they have cannot compensate for it anymore. Then, Spyro will become as Malefor was: an instrument of Dark Will, nothing more than a living trigger for the end of the world, a shadow of his former self.
Considering the pic, Spyro is in his Dark Spyro self, unable, like Malefor, to ever return to his former self. His tears are for his lost soul, his former ideals, but also the fact that he is unable to even stop himself from taking the lives of the all that he knows. All he can do is sit and do nothing as Cynder can no longer reach him, his power fully and totally out of control.
If only they hadn't just sat there after defeating Malefor. If only they had actually journeyed forth to meet the enemy instead of just thinking the problem would go away on its own...
But now it's too late and there will be no one to stop the prophecy. Despite Spyro's efforts, the future is unchanged. The cycle of destruction resumes.
