Description I did this exercise to get back on my feet.

I started doing it for the patterns on their skin only, but then i imagined the colors and soon i was also concerned about the shapes. I started looking for interesting patterns/shapes on existing animals. 2nd row 3rd head is heavily inspired by antelopes, 2nd row 4th started out as crocodile-ish, and midway i looked up butterflies. 3rd row 1st head is fully based on butterflies. 3rd row 4th head is based on horses, and 2 kinds of goats (mountain goat and markhor). 4th row 1 and 2 and the last head are based on crustaceans, especially on one that i didn't even find a Wikipedia article about (Acanthonotozoma). This is just a fraction of animals i referenced.

Is that a little madeup language I see? Reminds me of my own one I put on my art too, eheh. Dots and strange swirly bits.

A made-up alphabet, i made it when i was like 14 for when i don't want people to be able to read my notes (not easily anyway). It's either English or Hungarian, depending on my mindset at the time of writing.

Hello, I have a question,What kind of paper and pencils used for these drawings? Thank you

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WhiteRaven90 In reply to DarkNos5 [2015-08-02 16:37:37 +0000 UTC]

Clairefontaine ivory paper (it's my sketchbook), and a 0,5 mechanical pencil with 2B lead (the lead is Rotring).

DarkNos5 In reply to WhiteRaven90 [2015-08-02 16:48:57 +0000 UTC]

Clairefontaine is the brand of your sketchbook? If so,You recommend me one way or another brand or sketchbook? Thank You for Answer

WhiteRaven90 In reply to DarkNos5 [2015-08-02 17:01:24 +0000 UTC]

Something that has ivory paper in it, if you are aiming for paper that i use. It's supposed to be the smoothest paper, and it has an ivory color. If you just want a sketchbook brand, then my previous one was PaperBlanks:Β www.paperblanks.com/us/en

I usually make drawings in pen and ink; and lately I'm looking for a good sketchbook for this. What type would you recommend me, besides which you have shown me?Β
I'm sorry to bother you with this.Spend that I'm saving money to buy new materials and honestly I've never used a sketchbook, so I ask this to see what I recommend and buy many of this sketchbook. Thank You for Answer me again

WhiteRaven90 In reply to DarkNos5 [2015-08-02 17:28:55 +0000 UTC]

I don't know sketchbook types or other brands. Frankly when i need a new sketchbook i just go to the art supplies shop or a paper shop or anything that is likely to have notebooks in it, and pick one i like. But if you want one for inking, i'm not sure ivory paper is a good choice. You'd want something that absorbs ink better, so some kind of soft paper, like watercolor paper.Β
You're welcome. >3>

You're welcome! In Game Of Thrones , for example , the dragons look amazing , but they are too similar to alot of dragon designs. The only movie I saw that had alot of variety and looked awesome was How To Train Your Dragon. Since dragons have so many options of colours , facial features and etc , I think that after some time , the audience ( in this case me ) gets kind of bored.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WhiteRaven90 In reply to RainbowDashCat [2014-07-17 02:58:19 +0000 UTC]

Well... producers usually produce for audiences that have not seen many dragons, and the world never runs out of that kind of audience, they keep coming, replacing the previous generations endlessly. Dragon-connoisseurs like us (if you are fine with that term) are not the majority nor the target audience, and producers love statistics, especially if they can't be bothered to take a little risk financially (introducing a new design is a risk to them). To them, the problem of regurgitated designs is not a problem, it's an opportunity to take an easy way without sacrificing income.

HttYD was indeed great. It's just that, in there they had a crystal-clear reason to make varied designs, it was essential for the plot. In GoT it isn't crucial for the dragons to have fresh designs. Most marketing-specialized people also have this idea that the more a design becomes unique, the less the mainstream audience will be able to digest it - a little uniqueness is desirable, too much is risky. It may be true, since closed-mindedness seems to be an inborn human trait.

Sorry for the wall of text. It's a frustration of mine too.
