Description Sorry about the watermark kids. I'd hate to have someone snatching these babies after I spent to much time on them. These are the new elements that will be in our game! You'll notice that there are some missing, and some new ones as well. In order to manage the filesize, unfortunately we had to cut some out. The new ones are meant to re-balance the game. Good to see them all together

To clear up potential confusion:
-Ground and Rock have been combined to "Earth"
-Ghost and Dark have been combined to "Shadow"
-Normal and Fighting have been combined int "Normal." I've never understood the difference.
-Flying is renamed "Wind" to encourage different designs
-Bug and Dragon are no more, mainly because there's no mammal type, amphibian type, etc. They really don't make sense among the other elements.

Please feel free to suggest new elements. Keep in mind, they will have to make sense within the context of our game for them to be accepted.

Why not use a class system for weakness and elemental system for attributes? like:

main problem i see:
how you can feel is something is "phychic" damage? how feels to be hit by a phychic hit?! or a plant hit i cant define that, same with metal, rubber, (dragon?, bug?)
is weird to say OUCH! that feels like bug!!! or that hit feels like a flying!

Elemental proposal: ARCANE (magical user, controls some kind of mysterious magic)

solution:
separe the elemental damages, and types

example:
Spidermonster

Class: bug (weak against: fire, ice) (resist: posion, earth)
Special: poison / earth (gives a bonuses with those elemental attacks)

example2:
CoolDragon

Class: Dragon (weak against: ice)
Special: Thunder / Fire

example3:
Magicianmonster

Class: Pychic (weak against: normal, earth, and other physical attacks for his fragile body)
Special: Arcane / Fire

Example4: dual classes (or more)
GhastlyDragon

Class: Dragon / Undead (weak against: arcane, ice)
Special: water / thunder

Using the class system to define in more detail the monsters (as hist type of classification), giving weakness and resistances Β by that needed to know in more detail the monster, and giving the special system to define in clarity the elements (to avoid the ilogical weakness of pokemon)

DAMAGE ELEMENTS:
ICE /Β WIND /Β POISON /Β EARTH /Β THUNDER /Β WATER /Β FIRE /Β ARCANE

Monster classes
Dragon / fairy / bug / beast / fish / flying / elemental / machine / undead / demon / pychic /Β

(someking bases on yu gi oh)

Actually, I've been considering that for some time. Β I'm just trying to find the proper way to fit it into the fiction of our world

Nice in my world it's pretty neat because it can use four elements as well as it's own.

Rubber type really doesnt...work. at least from my stand point, and is essentially in the same vein as bug dragon and fairy, in that its just a form of being. I would, instead, would like to see a "void" type. Something that is more or less a more powerful normal type. Void type would be for pokemon who arent really substantial in the world, or not exactly fully existing within it. Some Examples I can think of are Porygon, Unown, Giratina (perhaps palkia dialga and arceus, but they are representative of the materials within our worlds), but with those examples, im sure you can understand what types of things im thinking of. It would be neutral all around, but immune to sound, light, and possibly either immune or super effective against void.Β

I just don't get the "rubber" element, I'd suggest to change it for another more cool, useful.
Very nice elements, btw

Thanks for your interest in them! My team got together and we decided to keep these private, which is why I put a watermark on them. If you like the concept of the icons, you're more than welcome to make your own, but we're going to keep our game as original and fresh as possible. Plus I'd love to see your take on what the fighting, bug and dragon ones would look like

What would a space type fakemon look like? Like what are some of their common features (like fire types have flames on them, grass types are made of plants, etc.)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mypokeniverse In reply to WiiStyler [2012-10-19 21:59:58 +0000 UTC]

it will be not too much like flames with fire, flowers with grass or with rocks and that,it will be with something related to space and the design more futuristic, it can also have rocks, saturn rings, trail of a shooting star, blue sparks i donΒ΄t know i have a few of them not dedicated to much in designe of that type, also i have made moves check if you like [link] the space ones are at the bottom.

Great spriting work, I assume these are pokemon icons? Cuz if so I can maybe help clear up a few of the previously confusing elements

Normal types are defined by their high HP stat usually and not ruled by any elements. Fighting types are all focused on physical combat moves or brute strength. I would have thought normal and rubber would have been the same, perhaps?

Satoshi Tajiri, creator of Pokemon, first thought of the games due to his passion for bug collecting (hence the bug type over any other classifications of life). They, along with ghost and dark, create the weaknesses for psychic because psychic's vulnerabilities are based on common psychological fears.

You've done a lovely job with the icons, though with the dissolution of some types, your elements are going to be quite heavily imbalanced. Normal was one of the largest types alone, so unless you're assigning new elements to a lot of them, the normal element types for your game will be HUGE.

There's also going to be an upheaval of the ice type (who were previously strong against dragon and now appear as a weaker element) and psychic (which appear massively strong since two of their vulnerabilities have been removed).

Sorry if this all sounds like a criticism, it's not meant to I'm just trying to point out some of the things I can see that might cause problems down the line. Perhaps sound would be a substitute for one of psychic's weaknesses? the mind needs to concentrate, so it's a thought

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WiiStyler In reply to Trueform [2012-10-19 13:32:20 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I know Satoshi Tajiri was inspired by bugs when making the original Pokemon, but to me, that and dragon don't make sense. That's part of the reason why we added sound, to be strong against psychic. Rubber was also added to create something strong against electric since, rock and ground have been combined and fighting has disappeared. Basically what had to happen was, we had to redistribute strengths and weaknesses. For example, ice is now strong against grass, which it isn't in the series. So it might be a little different at first, but after awhile we're pretty sure people will understand our logic Btw, if it clears things up, nothing is strong against normal and normal is strong against nothing. It's kind of a balanced element on its own.

Also, I LOVE criticism, when it's constructive (which yours is) because that's what will make our game better

Trueform In reply to WiiStyler [2012-10-19 14:01:42 +0000 UTC]

Heheh ok thanks sometimes people take even contructive criticism harshly, so I'm always careful not to offend to make life easier

I see what you mean, if you re-distribute strengths and weaknesses, it will certainly make things a bit more balanced. So what about all the bug and dragon types, for example dragonite? Although it has wings, it doesn't strike me as wind or any other type

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WiiStyler In reply to Trueform [2012-10-19 14:13:23 +0000 UTC]

Well we are certainly going to have creatures based off bugs and dragons. It'd be weird if there weren't any Basically, with the ones we've been creating or borrowing from people, we look to make sure they can fit into the elements we plan to have. If not, we either make some changes or we simply say "This is an awesome design, but we just can't fit it in." At the end of the day, the quality of the game is more important than how many creatures we throw into the mix.

In the example of a bug type, I'd be happier with a fakemon based off of a leaf bug, that way we can give it a grass element. Something I'd be less happy with is a Caterpie, even though it's awesome, and evolves into Butterfree. My guess is most of the bugs we'll have will be poison type.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Trueform In reply to WiiStyler [2012-10-19 14:23:22 +0000 UTC]

Well there are certainly a lot of dual poison bugs, but yeah I guess there will be quite a few that don't fit in, but it will be interesting to see what you come up with

I'm especially excited to design some rubber types. I imagine them being a bit crazier and more carefree than other pokemon/fakemon

Trueform In reply to WiiStyler [2012-10-19 14:51:17 +0000 UTC]

lol yeah, I have seen some other rubber types before and it definitely seems like an interesting element to approach designing. I imagine them like maijin buu from dbz

TOBproject [2012-10-19 08:57:20 +0000 UTC]

I love this

I don't think you really need more elements, unless you wanted to add strange variations like "Space" and "Time". The current distribution is quite logical.
