Pretty realistic. Now I need to find a coloring tutorial for this wing. A detail and realistic one (especially crows wing, their beautiful sheen wings feather when hit by sunlight is mesmerizing) in Photoshop.
Thank you for sharing this ^-^

I find this a very helpful tutorial, and I can see all the pictures in full view, but why is it that I see only one picture in normal view...?
And how do you do that?

I uploaded this about 5 years ago, when DA's upload setup was a bit different. Now, I'm not sure how you would have a different 'preview' image as opposed to the 'download' image.

Oh I like how you do wings! I might put this to use next time I draw my winged characters - try to get the feathers placed better :3
I've thought about doing a tutorial for how I draw wings but I have to know how to draw them well first - and yours is better then Mine would be

Oh, and I know I already commented but I just remembered something else.
How much do you want me to alter it to be able to consider the work I do my own? I'm already planning on changing the posture quite a bit, and obviously the feathers are going to be different. The image will not contain the entire wing, just the base where it joins the body and part of the rest. And, as already said, it'll be metal. Is there anything else you want me to do?

Grumpy-Old-Diamond [2009-09-23 02:27:59 +0000 UTC]
Thank you veeeeerry much. I can finally get around to drawing my character now...
Any tips on how to make it look like it's made of metal? Besides color? They'd help a lot. Or not, you may have never tried it either.

"This is for people who want to draw wings that will actually lift their creature off the ground." Priceless. Fantastic turorial, and although stylised wings are OK, I HATE those silly "furry" wings. Unless of course the creature is meant to be flightless. Sorry if I offended anyone, but it's true! You are amazing btw!

I think there's been some confusion - this is not stock, but it is a tutorial. The main category is "Resources and Stock Images" and my tutorial falls under the 'resources' portion of that.
That said, this image is copyrighted and may not be used in other works. I would ask that you please remove the work (or at least the wing portions), as those wings are not stock and may not be used as such. If you wish to draw your own wings based on the tutorial though, then that's fine. Thanks for your understanding.
