This is really lovely and nice to share this step by step picture!! <3
uhmm.. but I got a question.. From Step 3 to Step 4... did you paint with a lighter orange color over the orange areas or did you just enhance the saturation?

I painted step 3 over with a lighter layer of pale orange, and used a more saturated brown colour to add some more colour to the fox
In layer 4: for the head area I used a large low opacity round brush to add shadows/lighting, as well as a smaller higher opacity round brush for fur clump shapes. Some parts of the white fur was also done with a basic fur brush. Hope that helps!

hi! thanks for the reply! it really helps to understand it (: I would love to try that out - i love your works and watch them for long time ^-^ you are one of my greates idols and insiprations *-*
referring to the basic fur brush - is that your brush or did you get that brush somewhere from?Β I haven't found good fur brushes yet, and drawing every hair strain by hand is rly hard and take much time.. that's why i ask.
i hope you had great chrsitmas days and a wonderful start into the new year

Aww thanks!
I downloaded the fur brush from Deviantart, but I do draw every strand by hand XD I just use the fur brush for the shape that it gives: normal round brushes kind of have a rectangular shape in one stroke, but the fur brush I use kind of tapers off at the end of the stroke, which is a lot more similar how a real fur strand looks like. I don't have the exact link for where I downloaded the brushes though b/c I found then a while back, but if you type in fur brushes into the DA search box there should be a lot of results
Hope you had a great christmas and new year too!

Haha you get used to drawing each strand after a while XDΒ It isn't as bad as it first seems.
I'm sure you'll improve!
I have a long way to go too XD
Well I liked drawing as a little kid, but it was all really on and off with gaps in between. I didn't get serious about art till around after I started digital art, which is about just under 2 years ago? How about you?
Yep note is perfectly fine
