Description Alright alright! Got the connecting rods I ordered from Texas, so I believe it is now complete. Go me.

Had to redesign the base again, as I can't have the drivers rotating anymore. Since it can't rotate, it means I also had to redesign the boogie, which is now far more complex than I ever intended it to be. Other than that, I didn't have to do anything else, so enjoy.

It is of my own design, but it takes some inspiration from Kalimari Desert of Mario Kart 64, so copyright goes to Nintendo if anyone asks.

Thanks much. The train never gave me much trouble unless I went into the tunnel. Bad idea, man. Bad idea.

There's a way to launch yourself over the fence so you cut out a lot of the track out, but you need to run at it, bounce, bounce off the wall and gain enough air to make it over. If there's a train closeby, it WILL foil your attempts, you WILL drop down to last, and you WILL hate life at that moment.

I'm just not entirely convinced Lego came up with it on it's own. The similarities are uncanny.

I think it looks.....

Perfect!

Pretty cool, indeed.

Anyone knows LEGO "Emerald Night"?
Since Lego now offers their own steam engine wheels, what does Big Ben Bricks had to say?

I own one, made a few changes to it though. I just wish I have Lego tracks for it.

The wheels on my train are Lego-produced. Big Ben has been pretty quiet about it all, the only thing they said was how to differentiate between the two (Lego comes with rubber O-bands). Still eerily similar, I say. Conspiracy? Maybe. As for the Emerald Night...I'm pretty meh on it. It's a giant step forward for steam engines in L-gauge, but over all I'm unimpressed, mostly because so many other people have done it already.

And thanks. Glad you like it. Gave me a headache getting the mechanics to work.

Wow... drive rods, even! Now THAT's some fancy business...

I'm really surprised that you got the lead truck to "work" so close to the cylinders, which I assume are fixed to the main frame for the sake of the aforementioned rods. O.o

Yeah, it gave me great pains trying to get it to work. The original just had a 2x2 spinner block (circle that rotates inside a square). This one...was much more complex. I'll post a picture of it because I'm proud of the solution. The rods were equally hard, because the cylinders rotate in place because of the way they're attached. I got in the end though.

Wow... O.o

I actually know what you mean about the rotating cyliners on that kit, and now that you mention it, I just got an idea... think they could be set up in an oscillating manner? [link]

Unfortunately, no. The hole is too narrow for anything to move on it. My engine has a "flagpole" sticking out of it held in place by the gold circle, and the rod slides along it via a 1x1 cube with a hole in the center. It would work if you set it up that way, but not very faithful to the original.
