Cute design and name for a Ground-type! I imagine it would have Gaara-like powers to keep the sand attached.
Just one thing to point out, there's no reason for the sand to change colour on the shiny version -it's still sand...

Didn't mean to cause offence, I do like your design. Stand by the comment though. Flames can appear different colours at different temperatures. That said, Rapidash's design is fairly old now. Back then they simply inverted colours and didn't think about it much. The newer shiny designs, particularly in Sun & Moon are more thought out. The sand on your shiny version looks like snow so might confuse people. If you do want a different colour of sand maybe black sand like Pallossand's shiny could work nicely?

Now it happens to be so that the color choice has a reason. The color of the sand is based off glacial flour, which is rock that's ground super fine due to glacial erosion. So it has a point.
But even if it didn't; why bother? It's just such a pointless point to make. It's a fake shiny of a fake pokémon, which is a fake creature in a fake universe. I could've made it ten stories tall with a million wings and no legs, called it a grass type and it'd be just as legit. Because it's art. It's freedom and creativity. That's the whole point of doing art.
People being nitpicky and going 'that's wrong' is why new artists are so afraid of showing their work and trying new things. Because everything has to be 'just so'.
So no, no personal offense taken. I'm just exhausted with this idea that everything has to be so bloody correct.

Thanks, I do too! I based the sand color off finely ground stone caused by glacial erosion called "glacial flour" or "rock flour".
