Description Spotted this small guy in the falcon tree, I think it's a Pygmy owl

How is the positioning? Β Too close to the edge?

Gorgeous shot! I love how the piercing blue sky contrasts the adorable pygmy owl, and that angle adds such an interesting aspect Β

hehe thanks :> Β I've seen one before like 20 years ago against the moon, only just saw this small owl before it vanished so was neat seeing him today :> Β Go looking for a falcon, find a owl :>

I think there's an old horned owl that lives behind my apartment who hoots every night lol, but that's as close as I've gotten to seeing an owl in the wild. I'd love to see a pygmy or elf owl, but this pic will do for now And yep, look for one thing and find something even better

I have a few really loud annoying barred owls in the area :>

What a little cutie! And yes, I believe it's a Pygmy as well ^^

Yeah, we have Northern pygmy, just can't be 100% sure as the front is slightly turned but rest fits.

Ooh, how wonderful I know we have at least one or two owl species indigenous to the area but I'm not sure what. I do, however, know that we have osprey and red-shouldered hawks in the area, as well as bald eagles and pelicans. ^^

We have a few, though only seen barred and this guy most times, though seen the ocasional snow owl going though.

Definitely a Northern Pygmy in my opinion. You really should really report this to your local birding society, this is a fantastic record!Β
