Description
Well, this has been a little time in the making: three generations of main characters (well, three and a half, the Alfetta is there as well). Mostly it was an excuse to do a street scene, as I've not done one of those in awhile.Don't ask me what Jesse's doing in France, backpacking and manning a cafe/bar I guess, as that seems to be the standard Aussie thing to do at her age... apparently an "Australian Style" cafe to boot, because apparently that's a thing overseas... and I didn't feel like drawing enough tables to make it a stereotypical French cafe.
Also put Nsio 's Sayaka and Chieko in the background as that latter is technically the character I worked on most recently and it was noted she wanted to travel. Many thanks to him for letting me borrow them, even if only appearing in a small capacity.
Anyway, have some chilled beats to go with --->Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBms-wβ¦
Sayaka and Chieko are (c) Nsio
Thomson and Thompson (or Dupond et Dupont, or whatever they're called in your part of the world) are (c) Herge
Jesse, Lettie and Henry Maugham, and Jethro+Monty are (c) yours truly, albeit with the latter of those being fancharacters operating in the Gunslinger Girl universe, which is (c) Yu Aida.

Thomson and Thompson have stumbled upon some very suspicious characters, 'twould seem. To be precise, they're always suspicious of stumbling characters.
Given the duo's propensity for getting wound up in the wrong adventure, I must now wonder about a story where Thomson and Thompson bungle their way through a perfectly planned J+M operation. My, wouldn't that be a fun crossover...
On the more serious sided, I love the sense of lighting and subtle character portrayal (the difference between Lettie, Monty, and Jesse is shown in more than just the expression, no?). Plus, that little dip Henry's elbow takes out of the border to add perspective. It's little effects like that that make me smile.
Anyway, great stuff as always. May your inspiration never run dry.
Regards,
-CG

I sometimes thing that the only way Thomson and Thompson find anything is by stumbling across it...
As to an actual crossover though; it could be fun but, to be honest, not really my sort of thing. Usually if I cross anything over it tends to be very light: ships passing in the night like this picture, or a hint that some personality may exist within the same universe to help shape the reader's expectations (example, in And the Adventure Continues when J+M are visiting Algy it's hinted that James Bond and Q are arguing outside, though the names are never directly used). That being said the Thompson Twins are more likely than most to wind up in the same story... though a crossover would probably suit Lettie better as it looks like her timeframe is going to wind up being closer to theirs.
On the character front, I do try to make that portrayal about more than expression, and it's often spread through things like clothing, food/drink, vehicle, and weapon choices... among other things. I'm working on getting posing and the like to reflect it as well: sometimes it works, sometimes my illustrative ability fails me. Either way, I'm glad they come across as distinct... though it probably doesn't hurt that this picture also includes the three most "real/living" (if that makes sense) character sets that I have right now.
Cheers mate.

Love the soft warm light washing across the background, and all the detail in the buildings really give the setting character. Immediately reads as a lovely old world city! Really awesome work, I can imagine this took a lot of time and it really looks great for the effort!

Yeah... that background took a little longer than I really care to admit.
That said, it's been awhile since I last did a detailed background, and it was nice to play with that and atmosphere again. Glad it's come across alright.

Well, the Alfetta has made at least one other relatively recent appearance (though even that was over a year ago so, yeah... wow, time flies), but I did not realise how long it had been since I last drew Jesse. Needless to say, she got a bit of a design update as part of this...
...which was, in part, Lettie's fault. Let's just say my two blonde leads were, umm, more physically similar than I cared for when putting them in the same picture. Β Still, I rather like her revised look. Β

Really digging the detail and love that's gone into this one. Excellent work as always!

Heh, the detail was one of those evolving things, "I think that needs a little more/could use" or, in some cases, "this could probably use a little less". Of course, one of the reasons this probably took so long is because it's full of characters I like to lavish a little extra care, attention and time on, so they all took longer than the norm.
Cheers mate.

Neat and well worth the times and efforts especially the street scenery.

So much for your earlier determination not to intermingle the characters of your various universes. Though I imagine this is just a flight of whimsy rather than a crossover idea.

Yeah, a bit of whimsy, plus everyone here exists at similar enough points on similar enough timelines that it wouldn't be infeasible for them all to wind up in the same place at the same time by pure chance. That doesn't mean they need to be acquainted, or even interact, with each other, though I suspect Henry and Lettie may be delivering to the cafe Jesse is working at.
