I am back to.. these things..

Oh boy.

Fun fact: this is based on a scene from the movie Big Hero 6, of all things...

Y'all remember me saying not to get attached to James.. right?

Please tell me you remembered that.
I'm not paying for y'alls therapy sessions/hj.

----

I am going to add a small trigger warning here: The following recap and story does discuss death and mourning. There is nothing graphic shown, however and obvious discussion is held, if this could potentially cause a negative effect, please click off now.

Some off the important things incase you don't have time to read the shear amount of Dialogue I always write:

1. James ended up with a Spinal Cord Injury from what happens here . Incase you can't tell, the outcome was grim.
2. Alexis isn't doing too great. She already wasn't doing too great. Infact she's doing worse.
3. This is happening in like..Mid August..me thinks..

-
"Was there..?"

"No, no, no other family. Just myself, my mother, and Alexis."

"I'll let you say your goodbyes, then. I'm so sorry."

She'd heard the diagnosis, and in turn the prognosis, and had stopped hearing anything after that.

Alexis had known that the words like 'Spinal Cord Injury' and 'Upper Vertebrae Damage' that all the medical professionals were using should've meant something to her.

But all she could think about was that it was her fault.

She should've been able to stop him. She should've remembered her phone. She..

After the funeral everyone congregated in the family home.
Except for her.
She hid away on the stairwell, listening to the sound of the rain. How perfect, Rain on the day of a funeral.

The wall leading up the stairwell was lined with photos of herself and Sadie, and a few photos of some of the Horses taken for their respective breed registry. If it wasn't raining, she'd be out with some of them.

Alexis was only hiding because she needed to take a moment to breath. She was yet to voice her thoughts on this situation, yet everyone was already suffocating her with their concern. She needed the break.

A black lab peaked her head around the edge of the wall, followed behind by her handler.
Ana Gonzalez, a more recent addition to the stable team, rounded the corner.

"Hey, Ana." Alexis spoke up so that the older girl knew she was there.
"Hey, love." Her guide dog lead her up the stairs and she took a seat just next to her.

"Surprised that your here, didn't catch you at the funeral.
"Oh, no, I wasn't there. My Abuela wanted to drop off some of her Pandebono's and Sadie mentioned you were hiding up here."
"Oh, gotcha."
Ana sighed. "Are you alright, Because you don't seem alright."
"Can you..not.. tell everyone else this. Please." Alexis pleaded quietly.
"Course.."

"This is my fault. I.. I could've stopped him from doing what he-"
"Lexis! Take a breath. You know you're not at fault here, right?" Ana drew in an obviously annoyed breath. "Let me rephrase that. You do not need to feel guilty for this. You didn't do anything wrong."

"But I did. I forgot my phone."
"You know how many times I've done that."

"Yes, But you are quite literally legally blind!"
"My point is, you didn't do anything wrong. It was James' fault."

Alexis stood up suddenly, balancing on the edge of the stair. "Shut up! You never knew him! You don't get a say in this!" She shouted, so obviously fighting back tears.

She turned quickly, somehow managing to not loose her balance, and ran up the rest of the stairs, hiding herself in her room.
