I have heard of ratsnakes being aggressive, I am unsure if that's true or not, but all snakes can bite. It's a beautiful snake for sure!

ah, no, my life and my current living situation does now allow for it. I have however in the past had two adult Tegu, one red, one black, a mated pair. A pair of golden Armadillo Lizards, a pair of basilisks, quite a few different snakes, several iguana, and so on. Several hundred different ones over the years. At one time I did a rescue for a pet shop that had a very large reptile business which had been storm damaged and hosted them for a number of years while we got them safe places to be.
I have also had Coati, silver skunks, many different cats and canines, wolf dogs, and so on. We do however have a gorgeous 6 foot black snake that hangs around the apartments.

About two years old.
And I think it may be a trait of Yellow ratsnakes, as I've noticed the larger head to body ratio in photos of adults, and my Black ratsnake adult male has a similar ratio. My two female cornsnakes that are only a little larger than Taranis have much smaller head to body ratios, though they are older. (He's BIG for his age.)

Are you sure? It's actually pretty hard to get any type of ratsnake overweight without doing something extreme.

i am most certain *nods head* i got my kingsnake from the same place and he was a bit overweight too...a lot of the people who work there are volunteers that arent really informed on the feeding habits of many of the reptiles there i think.....like they feed their adult corn snakes the same way as young corn snakes which several times a week..when adults should be fed once a week <.<
and oh man he (the corn snake) just looks ridiculously fat...outsizes one of the ball pythons in thickness!

Ugh. That's horrible. You really should talk to them about it and explain that they could kill these snakes doing this.

=_=; indeed...i have not so subtly walked by the cages when the manager is around and say "this guy looks like quite the porker!" BUTTT i dont think that was clear enough lol

No, you need to approach the manager and tell them that you are very worried about the health of their snakes and explain why. Be polite but firm about the fact that they are not feeding them correctly.

Well, as much time as he spends in his waterbowl, he's probably clean at least.
