i had fun. I liked it. Not very sophisticated story but enjoyable. Felt like a kid-horror Jumanji-type movie.
I like how they kept it more comedy focussed. Goosebumps was a scary series for kids but the aim of the books were never meant to traumatize anyone. R.L. Stine himself said the Goosebumps series are "safe scares".
The kids who grew up on Goosebumps are grown up now. Most of the things that scared us as kids aren't likely to scare us now. Plus goosebumps always had comedic elements with the frights, so I liked how they stayed with their strengths.
The main character is a little bland. Then again most Goosebumps protagonists are infamously interchangeable. I would've made him a Goosebumps fan so he fits the story better. I would've taken out the 'dead dad' plot point or at least better utilize it in the story.
Overall, its a fun movie. I'd recommend it to young kids and fans of the books/tv series.

I liked it too , especially because of the creature and monster designs (plus Slappy was amazing in this) but further it was kinda meh , even for kids horror i wish it could have been a little more scary and most of the side characters were pretty annoying
