Nurses in the medical center kept a close eye on Clover for a few days. A few said it was a miracle those caltrops missed most of the major arteries and veins, even though the little green auri still had lost a lot of blood. Being a mostly small, farming town it had been difficult getting the blood transfusions needed in their tiny medical center.
In his sterile white bed with thin blue blankets, Clover stirred, restless. He was tired of lying in bed all day and missed the outdoors. A nurse came in to check on him.
“How ya feelin’ today love?” He asked in a happy-go-lucky tone.
Clover hesitated before answering him. “Err…kinda bored. Is it okay if I go outside?”
“Hmm…” The nurse considered this as he looked over the bandages covering Clover’s arms. They weren’t as thick as they were a few days ago because the wounds were healing well without any signs of infection. “Sure. Just play it careful, alright?”
Clover rushed out the doors of the center, relishing in the crisp morning air. Birds chirped in the distance and the sky was an amazing shade of blue with very few white, puffy clouds dotting the expanse. The forest at the edge of the small town beckoned Clover, and he speeds towards it in hopes of finding more flowers. He could make flower crowns, flower bracelets, anything! However, as he slowed his gait when he reached the trees, something more interesting caught his eye.
A meadow was situated right up against the dense woodland, and a small pond sat in the center. A few lilypads floated lazily along the surface and a toad splashed into its depths. A dead tree overlooked the peaceful scene. Just visible in the thicket of trees beyond the clearing is a wooden building. Upon closer inspection, it looks to be a decrepit old shed, covered in moss and lichen. The doorknob is rusted and the lock broken, but the door itself is slightly ajar. The roof slightly sags inwards and the entire thing is leaning ever so slightly to the right. Now this was cool. Clover bounded over to this new area, filled with curiosity.
Inside are a variety of garden tools - shears, a small shovel, bag of vegetable and flower seeds, a hand rake, a medium knapsack (+5 inventory space), and surprisingly, a worn yellow envelope. It doesn't look like it's been opened before, and there is a small bulge, like there's a trinket inside. Other tools are scattered all over the dirt floor of the shed but are too rusted and damaged to be used. All of these look so good! First though, Clover decides to pick up the packets of vegetable and flower seeds. But of course, he’d also need tools to make a garden with! He loads the seeds, small shovel, and hand rake into the knapsack on the workbench. Carefully, he ties the knapsack to his back and makes a note to attach it to his main bag when he gets back to town.
Last is the evenlope. Clover slowly dumps its contents onto the workbench; a small folded note and a tarnish silver locket. Inside the locket is an aged picture of an elderly female Aurilli with a kind smile. Curiosity growing, Clover unfolds the note to read it. The note reads:
Son, If you have found this note, it means that my old gardening shed was overlooked after my death. I kept this here so no thieves would find it in the old farmhouse - I wonder if it's even still standing. I hope things are good for you in Bellavette, but I will admit I'm very sad that you didn't agree to come to my funeral. I hope that you showed up after I was gone, heh. Anywho, enclosed is the silver locket of your dear mother, Sharaa. I know you two were very close. Her grave is near mine, close to the Silver Peaks, in the Auvira Woodland. There are a few landmarks you could recognize: that big mossy boulder, the bright pink rose grove, and the circle of pines. Your mother and I are buried side by side just beyond the pines. It would mean a lot to your old man if you could bring this locket to that place and give your mother the gift I never could before she passed. I love you son. -Carmelo.
A quest! Without a second thought, Clover starts towards the east edge of Auvira. Right away there are two obvious paths – left and right. Using his knowledge of the area, Clover takes the right path. The path leads to a dead end full of briars and dead leaves. There is nothing of interest past the spiky barrier. Clover, not discouraged, doubles back to the left path. There are now three new trails; Clover takes the rightmost one. Again, a dead end, so he returns to the original fork in the road. Considering his options, Clover decides to go straight.
The forest up ahead is dense and dark. Some trees are mostly oak, but others look to be various species of pines. There is also a small clearing to the left. The pine tree area looks the most interesting. Beyond this area, the trees clear out a bit, but there is no longer a path. However, there are large rocks that could easily be used as landmarks and will ensure Clover does not get lost. There are four new areas now that he could explore to go forward. There is a small meadow with dandelions, a rocky outcropping, some small mossy mounds, and a patch of pine needles with holes riddling the ground. After much consideration, Clover skipped over to the mossy spots.
The mounds looked like mini hills, but covered in moss instead of grass. There is not much of interest here, except for some litter such as beer bottles and used shotgun shells. This is not the way forward. Perhaps the meadow would yield more promising leads.
The meadow is warm and sunny. Bumble bees hover around lazily in the air, picking up pollen and generally bee-ing cute. From here, Clover can see that in the distance the tree separate, like there is another area inside them. This is the right path. There is a bush with wild blueberries on it to the side, but it is rustling. It could be the wind or a wild animal. Clover hesitates for a minute, but passes up the bush to continue forward.
A large fox emerges from the blueberry bush, growls at Clover, then runs away. The forest seems much safer than the meadow now. Now there are two more paths - marked by someone, it seems. There is one with a stick in the ground with a salmon pink ribbon tied to it, and one with a neat pile of smooth stones. Clover paused, confused. He pads up to the stick with the ribbon tied to it and thinks twice about the ribbon. If this belonged to someone else he’d feel terrible for stealing, but still walks down this trail.
There are more and more ribbons appearing on the tree, and next pieces of dolls. Hands, feet, heads, torsos...none of them are completely intact. The woods are silent now, no bugs or birds making a sound. There is a cabin ahead, where all the ribbons lead to. They are thick like vines now and long ones hang from nearly every tree. Something is wrong here. A little creeped out, Clover turns back and takes the path with the stones. Now there are three paths. Straight, left, and right. He’s a bit spooked by this most recent experience, but chooses to go straight again.
Once again an obstacle stops him from continuing. There are now 4 trees with symbols carved into them. One has a star, another has a crescent moon, one has a circle, and one has a heart. He’s stuck between two choices, but ultimately follows the crescent moon tree.
For a while, things are nice and quiet. The woods smell of moss and sap and are generally pleasant. Soon another fork in the path appears. There is one path with a hunting stand. This path looks more used. The other path is full of soft-looking grass and seems not well traveled. Well, as the saying goes!
The forest is even lovelier down this path. Butterflies and bumble bees flutter about, collecting pollen and shining in the early afternoon sunlight. To one side of this meadow, there are smaller trees and fewer bushes. They appear to be birch trees. On the other side, the terrain becomes rockier, with large boulders jutting out of the ground. Clover distractedly plays with the butterflies before stopping himself and choosing to go towards the rockier terrain with large boulders.
Despite the ground sprouting huge rocks all over, small, bright flowers fought their way through the cracks. Clover decides to pick a small yellow flower. Thankfully, the flower didn't have any thorns on it, otherwise it couldn't caused some small cuts on his already wounded paws! It is a very pretty rose, however. Within a few more minutes of walking, a gigantic, looming boulder rounded the horizon. It probably would've been taller than Enigma had she been present. Its entire surface was covered in blooming, emerald green moss. Underneath, there are small holes and what looks like pieces of bones. This looks to be the mossy boulder mentioned in the letter! He decides to go past it.
Beyond the boulder, there are large groups of flowers growing in all sorts of ways. Sunflowers, tulips, lavender, dandelions, pretty much everything. At the back edge of this wild garden is a rose bush growing beautiful, bright pink roses. Towards the left side is another rose bush, but with gorgeous, ruby red roses. On the right is an even bigger rose bush with sunset-colored roses. Clover, excited now, rushes towards the bright pink Roses. As he burst through the bush, a circle of pine trees appeared in front of him. To the left is a circle of birch trees, to the right a circle of oak trees, and a few yards right of that is a circle of ash trees. Full of energy, he remembers the letter and continues forward to the circle of pine trees.
Finally, after a day of hiking, the destination is before him. Two old, mossy graves lean in to each other, both capped at the footstone by a chunk of quartz. The only legible words on the graves are Carmelo and Sharaa. It seems this journey has come to an end. Clover slows to a stop and admires the graves lovingly leaning towards each other. His heart aches, and he bows in front of Carmelo's grave. "I am not your son, but I have found your letter and am here to complete your request. I am sorry that your son isn't here..." He places the flower he recently plucked and the letter on to Carmelo's grave. Turning to Sharaa's grave, he places the silver locket gently on top. "This is a gift your husband wanted you to have. He is sorry he was unable to give it to you before you passed... I hope you two have found each other and are happy." For a moment, Clover sits in quiet respect for the two graves. As the sun starts to set behind the trees, he smiles, wipes a tear from his eye, and heads back.

So, for EVENT 8, each auri will get their own chapter! Each auri also has the opportunity to discover a Side Quest and have that be their chapter - and Clover found his! The prize for successfully completing the side quest is a shaded fullbody and 35 dA points.
I heeaaavily referenced the background from a google pic, because I can never do landscapes. It's still painted (although I blurred the painting later because I hated the textures).

Find a reference photo, then pretty much just. Stylize paint on top of it lmao. I changed colors and stuff too, to make my version look more cohesive and not all over the place as with a photograph. Also, photoshop leaf and tree line brushes are a godsend ;w;
I could probably find the ref again too
