We girls see the beauty of Zutara
They see a boled goofy "kid" with a beautiful "young woman" (Lovely...)
And a depressed "girl"? with sweet (hot) guy (Like Zuko didn't suffer enough)

Yep, Bryke pretty much failed at romance. (Though I have to say the romance between Sokka and Yue was very beautiful) but other than that, I think they pretty much failed.
They need to take a lesson from Disney! Disney knows where it's at!

Hmmm....all the Disney comparisons above are pretty good....Not to mention one little thing some people forget about Katara being with Aang.....He hasn't even "physically" matured yet, I.E. he hasn't puberty yet....he's only twelve really, and boys tend to hit that stage a bit later than girls anyway. Katara and Zuko have obviously already hit that point, even Sokka and Yue, or Suki if you prefer...So yeah, epic, more dramtic romances are FAR better....they didn't even really develop the romance between Aang and Katara anyway....most of the time it was just friends, and that pairing was actually pretty un-needed in my opinion anyway.

Exactly! ALSO I have noticed in a lot of stories the boy has a crush on the girl, but the girl doesn't feel that way about him (aang and katara) but at the end it all magically works our for the boy and the girl randomly decides she likes him! WTF? I am sick and tired of it! It makes it look like us girls are stupid and don't know what we really want!
But I did see Aang's crush on Katara as necessary to the plot, because I expected him to sacrifice his love for her in order to enter the avatar state (like the guru said). I wanted to see him be selfless and give up his personal happiness for the greater good...that would have been EPIC. However, that did not happen. Instead they made him fly into a rock and magically regain the avatar state, and not have to give up anything at all...LAME.
And you're right, 12 is barely even old enough to have a girlfriend, much less one who's 2 years older! And he's MUCH too young to have to watch him make out at the end like that, EWW! Plus, it's not like they're aren't millions of other girls out there who would love to be the avatar's girlfriend, besides Katara!
Sorry for rambling, I feel very strongly on the subject, as you can seee.... lol.

t's ok, I completely agree...And at age 12, some boys haven't exactly STARTED to like girls romantically, of course there are exceptions, but that's the age when boys just start to change physically. THey don't exactly start thinking of girls so much until the horomones start coming, and Aang's a bit shy of that. I also agree abotu how he reached the Avatar State, pretty dumb. And sure 2 years isn't a HUGE age gap, but when you consideer the younger has yet to reach piberty, when the older already has, and probably did at a younger age...yeah....how does THAT work? I bet he never even got "The Talk" yet. Not to mention if a 12 year old boy DOES kiss a girl, it's more likely to be a shy peck or something if they're pretty innocent like Aang, not full blown passionate kiss. And ;ets not forget that most of the time, Katara was more like a mother than a girlfriend, or even JUST a friend. And don't even get me started on the Maiko pairing...100% UNnessasary...seriosuly, WTF? That and Mai looks like a dude...her chin is pointier and more pronounced than ZUKO'S....and that's supposed to be a MASCULINE trait....not to mention she has zero passion...unlike Katara....

Yes, I saw Katara as an older sister to Aang, just like they said in the ember island play. Also, Toph said that everything that occurred in that play was the truth, and the play had Zutara in it! That made me so sure zutara was going to happen... And yeah, don't get me started on Maiko. I mean, he left in her a prison without a second thought about her, and she instantly forgives him as soon as he's Firelord? It's so obvious she only likes him for his power! It really made me angry when she was a "part of the gang" at the very end. I hate her! She was even willing to sell her own baby brother, back in season 2! That is just plain evil. And she did NOT redeem herself, not the way Zuko did. She is not at all what Zuko needs; they only stuck them together at the end for the sake of pairedness. Grrrr.

Yep, you are absolutely right about Mai. 'Sides, it was common for nobility to try and marry royalty JUST to get higher up in society...Who's to say it wouldn't be the same in this case. 'Sides...what did she EVER do for Zuko? Katara was willing to even heal his scar, saved his life at the end after he saved HERS, had sympathy for him when he mentioned he lost his mother.Not to mention she seems just like his mother anyway! THAT'S the type of girl Zuko needs...Oh and Mai will take a simple, yet cute and romantic scen or gesture, like the sunset or shell, and make it seem pointless and stupid....Any NORMAL girl who TRULY loved her guy would appreciate such simple things, no matter how stupid it may seem. Personally, I'd love it if a guy did that for me!

Yes! Zuko is willing to sacrifice his life for Katara without any hesitation! That is true love. And, he worked SO hard to gain her trust and friendship...he even told Sokka, "I DO care what she thinks of me!" The only time Zuko has ever cared what anybody thought of him, besides his father or his uncle.
And yeah, the shell episode...Mai just seems to make Zuko angrier and more frustrated. I couldn't help but think if Katara had been there, she'd accept it and act all happy and grateful...I would love it if a guy did that for me too!

Thus proving that Mai and Zukp is just pointless....Aang is too young, and would probably be better with Toph, closer age, balance each other out, etc. And Katara should've been with Zuko LIKE IT WAS ORIGINALLY INTENEDED! Seriously, it was...Really, the only pairings that worked out, were Sokka's...Him and Yue were cute, but he was able to move on, and yet still love her, so now he's with Suki. I think those are the only pairings the creators did RIGHT!

I agree, Sokka and Yue was the only "canon" romance I enjoyed...it was very sweet. But I have to say I was hoping Sokka would end up with Toph and not Suki. I like Suki, but I don't think she's right for Sokka...and it was pretty obvious Toph had a crush on him. I know she's a lot younger than him, but they both have a sense of humor and are pretty similar personality-wise. And I just wanted Aang to be alone, for now...I mean, he's only 12, he doesn't HAVE to be paired up. (Actually I was kinda hoping for him to die dramatically saving the world, but I know that would never happen in a kid's show).

Meh, dunno aotu Toph with Sokka, but meh...better than some other pairings I've seen...And Sokka/Yue was adorable....But what's really funny, the School Time Shipping chibi short. At least the creators paid SOME attention to their fans, in having not only possible canon love interests after Katara, but ZUKO....maybe hinting at what was supposed to happen...But the ending is hilarious! Couldn't stop laughing! It was the definition of irony...

Somebody totally has to crossover 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame.' That story is, like, Avatar, only with the Zutara result.
I mean, girl and protagonist have a little bit of a thing for each other. Yet, she falls for the 'anti-hero' (Phoebes wasn't really that much of one, like Zuko) in the end.

You're totally right! Beauty and the Beast is just like Zutara too (except there's no Aang) but Belle and the Beast start out angry at each other just like Zutara (and Gastong is Jet, cuz he wants to kill Zuko/Beast, and steal his girl, lol).
ALSO, Aladdin is exactly like Sokka and Yue! Seriously, a "peasant" falls in love with a princess (except Sokka and Yue has a tragic ending). Sokka even takes Yue for a ride on Appa that reminded me exactly of the magic carpet ride!
Disney/Avatar crossovers are the best!
