There is that, but the real shibboleth is "aboot." It's unmistakeable. Even Americans up in the border regions don't say it like the Canucks.

I've heard OF the whole "aboot" thing, but never actually heard it in real usage!

I live in NY close to the Canadian border (it's less than an hour drive), and I say 'aboot' often xD
I do have some French Canadian in my family/ heritage.

Actually, now that you say this, I'd be genuinely curious to know if it stands out as much to non-Americans or if it's just the contrast with the way everybody this side of the border pronounces it that makes it so obvious to us...
