What a random person knows
He is an Ex-Scientist. He was reassigned to another job because he did too many dangerous experiments on himself. None of which seemed to do any benefit for anyone. One of these experiments resulted in his blindness. When he was asked to be repaired, he refused aggressively. Another reason for why he was reassigned.
Still, he wanted to continue with his experiments. His new job wouldn't allow him to do so. Somehow he escaped and his whereabouts are now unknown.

Truth
Every experiment he does has some benefit. The only problem is that no one knows what he's doing. He studies bio-tech mainly. Uh, cyborg kind of stuff. Slowly he's turning himself into one with each test. Truthfully, he isn't blind. The piece on his antenna allows him to see without his eyes. So, he took away the ability for his eyes to function. He is about 884 earth years. Currently he resides on a deserted rock somewhere in space. His experiments continue.
