Cuprite abruptly sat up, heart beating rapidly inside her chest. Her memory was fuzzy; the last thing Cup could remember was talking to Iolite.
Iolite... Where is she?
She looks around, panicked, for any sign of Iolite. None. But there was someone there, Cuprite could see their vague form. The gem approached closer and Cuprite saw, clearer now, their robe and blue scheme. The gem bent over and offered Cup a hand, to which she took, pulling herself up. "Finally, you have awoken," they spoke, their voice soothing and calm. "My, what a terrible fate your peers left you to.. to perish in such an unholy desert!"
Cup furrowed their eyebrows. What.. a desert?
The blue gem continued, "What a wicked thing you must've done to have them maroon you on such dangerous premises. But do not fret now." They stand up, turn over to look at a door, and then turn back around to look at Cup, gesturing their arm towards the door's direction, in a welcoming manner. "Your wrongs are forgiven. Red Rose Diamond accepts you."
The gem stands there, waiting for Cuprite. Red Rose Diamond? Is this another Diamond in the authority? Am I in trouble? How.. how long has it been?
"Wait .. who's Red Rose Diamond?" Cup asked warily.
"Why, the founder of this oasis! Our savior, our forgiver. The grandest Diamond I've ever known, and you'll ever know. She is outside.."
"Who are you?"
"Moonstone, her advisor."
Cup stood there for a while, contemplating.
"Do you happen to know, or I mean, see, a vibrant purple gem, about my height, has a big ponytail, with her right eye as her gemstone? Her name is Iolite."
Moonstone stands there idly. She shakes her head solemnly after a few seconds. "No, I have not seen a gem of that description. You will probably find her outside! Come, let's go."

Cuprite's heart sank. Where really was Iolite? Why is she here? Where is she? She looks around, but there was no other door than the one Moonstone was nearby. She sighs, her spirits low now. She's terribly worried, but maybe, just maybe, Iolite may be out there. But she doubts it. Iolite was quite unique, Moonstone could've distinguished her. What does she do now, without Iolite?
That doesn't matter at this moment. What does matter is to figure out where she actually is right now. No threats have been presented yet, and the first gem she met is fairly nice. But Iolite was gone, and Cup can't remember anything. This was all so confusing and.. scary.

The bright sunlight blinded Cuprite briefly once the doors swung open. There were so many gems, all huddled and talking, of different colors and different sizes. The massive walls surrounding them towered above, casting shade for the gems hanging out on the edges of the area. They all turned around to look at the newcomer, and then they parted, leaving a pathway for Cuprite, a pathway to an area right in front of what they assumed to be the Diamond. She was grand, and sat upon a brilliant throne.
Cup was distracted by her own thoughts though, too much to notice the greetings and welcoming faces. She didn't really care about others staring at her either, when she most times would.
Whilst walking, Cup saw Iolite's figure in the corner of her eye. She sharply turns around, but there was no trace of Iolite. And she was staring awkwardly at a random gem. Her face turns red and she turns back around, continuing to walk. Wasn't that Iolite?
She feels a cold breeze sweep by her, and saw a semi-transparent Iolite. This wasn't real. She's not really here, isn't she?
"Hey, Cup. What's with the glum face..?" Iolite asked. "Cheer up! This place looks pretty nice." Cuprite turns over, looking at Iolite square in the face. No, she wasn't going mad. But she missed Iolite terribly.. so her mind created illusions. "I.. I can't," Cup replied anyway, rubbing her arm nervously, looking around to see the crowd of people, murmuring and looking. She takes a deep breath, closed her eyes, and then Iolite was gone.

"Hello? Are you okay?" The Diamond asked Cup, her voice projecting across the area. The crowd was quiet now. Cup looks up at the Diamond's kind face. "Yes.. I'm okay."
