Beautiful with a color composition that combines reality with fairy tale dream scape. This is perfect for children picture books. Very exciting and beautifully made.

Thank you! Definitely my favorite piece to date. It's the one time I can recall when I saw in my head became infused with reality on paper. Would definitely like to revisit gouache again.

I can experience a cinematic sense of dread from looking at this picture Great work with the composition, the aerial view provides the best angle to capture that sense of scale. In a way the forms of the snake and kayak could double as an abstract painting even though the narrative is better

Long time, no reply, but thank you~ This is definitely one of my more successful ventures in gouache.
And I'm glad you noticed the many layers that went into conceptualizing this painting.

Great job, you just nailed the underwater effect ! And you can totally feel the depth of the water increasing through the painting !

Thank you ! It's definitely been a while since I've been around but hopefully back for a bit.
At least to get back to everyone. And thank you ^_^ I'm glad. Depth was definitely a tricky feature to accomplish from an aerial view.

I have been saving this image in my notifications so I could find the time to comment. This is so beautiful. Like I love it! You accomplished that feel that the snake's body is underwater.

Thank you! That means a lot to me. I think this piece was also marked the turning point in gouache for me. Starting off, I couldn't shake the feeling it was a more chalky watercolor with drastic color shifts from wet to dry but after working with it a little more it grew on me.
And now I almost feel like I prefer it over watercolor in terms of work flow.

You never know, the snake could be friendly... a friendly giant man eater.

I guess it's polite about it when it eats you?

The dragon is still going to eat you, but at least he has the courtesy to say as much.

wow, this is so cool! I love snakes, specially big ones, and this picture really tells a story. It could work perfectly with a book for children or even as the cover.

Thank you! Me too. For a limbless creature they are quite beautiful. And I'm glad to hear it.
