Description Meet Barbarella. The sexiest woman of the future.

The main reference for this work was a low resolution still from the end of movie, in which the blind angel Pygar flies away with Barbarella. Barbarella's face however is based on a still from the scene in which the Concierge has put her in the Excessive Machine. I am quite happy with the way her expression has turned out.

The color work is inspired by the old Dutch masters, who loved different kinds of brown (most famously Rembrandt; see [link] .

In the off chance that you do not know who Barbarella is, see [link] for the trailer. I'm sure you can find the full movie somewhere as well. Here is the wiki: [link] . Barbarella is one of the ultimate camp figures of the 60s. The movie was hugely influential. British Band Duran Duran took its name from one of the characters (Durand Durand).

If you haven't seen the movie, you really should. It's a camp movie in many ways, but the imagery is often truly brilliant. It's very funny as well.

Enjoy!
