Description
Dar'gul fell to the ground in a heap, laying his back against a nearby tree. He was given a brief rest from his training to relax his muscles and thoughts. At least that's what the elders told him. Not that it would help him much. There was no rest for him, not in his current state.'Are you okay, father?' one of the orclings asked, which earned a pained sigh from their father.
"You can stop with the 'father' crap," Dar'gul replied, wiping the sweat from his brow. "We all know that's not true."
'Perhaps,' another orcling responded. 'But this is our fate as well as yours. The least we can do is call you our father.'
"But I'm not your father! Gurrk!" Dar'gul winced as a contraction seized him. Guess the elder wasn't lying when she said that he was in a perpetual state of labor.
'Whoa! Take it easy, boyo!' another orcling cried out. 'No need to go ape on us!'
"I'll be fine," Dar'gul replied, trying to relax as he took deep breaths. "Are you all okay?"
'We're not the one's you should be worried about,' an orcling reprimanded. 'It's you who should be asking yourself that question.'
"Why should I?" Dar'gul asked between breaths. "It's not like my opinion matters."
'Why say that?' another orcling asked.
"It's always been that way," Dar'gul started, a flood of memories pouring through his head. "I've never been in control of my life. I've always let my destiny be controlled by others. But I was fine with that. If that meant that I can protect my people, then I could endure anything. But this..."
'You can't endure, right?' an orcling asked. Dar'gul simply sighed.
"I was chosen to be a vessel for you all, without even knowing what I was getting into. Not that I could refuse. If I did, I would be exiled from the tribe..." Dar'gul paused for a moment as a torrent of emotions hit him hard. His eyes began to water and his voice began to break and weaken. "I-I couldn't even give my orclings a choice! I promised them something that I can never give back!"
'Twas out of yer hands, mate,' another orcling responded. 'Ye think anyone would willingly choose dis fate of der own accord?'
"I could have done SOMETHING though!! DRAAAAAGGHH!!!" Dar'gul screamed as another strong contraction hit, this time bringing him to tears. It was only now that the reality of his situation finally hit him. A vessel? A reincarnation? Bullshit. He was cursed. Cursed to be pregnant with orcling dolls holding the souls of the Seven Legendary Warriors for the rest of his days. Something so cruel and twisted could only ever be called a curse. And worst part? He had no one to blame but himself for not speaking out when he did. His own sense of loyalty betrayed him, and now he had to pay the price.
'Father!' an orcling cried out in response.
"I'M NOT YOUR DAMN FATHER!" Dar'gul bellowed in misery. "I hate this! I'm stuck with these orclings in my gullet that'll never be born and you're all stuck inside of me until I die!"
'Twas not our choice, lad!' an orcling reasoned, only to be cut off by their "father".
"Excatly!!" Dar'gul cried, tears now following non-stop. "It wasn't your choice! You were pulled from paradise back down here! And in THIS wretched, FUCKING state!! And STOP calling me your FATHER!! Just because I would have accepted those orclings as my own doesn't mean you have to accept me as your damn parent! Especially if you don't prefer it!"
'But we do prefer it!'
That answer shut Dar'gul up real quick. For a moment, he sat there trying to rationalize what they just said. They prefer being disembodied souls attached to swimming orclings in a perpetual womb? Who would prefer such a fate? He laid his back against the tree again to try an relax and stew over that answer one more time.
"But..." he started, mentally stumbling over a series of explanations. "But I... you all..."
'We served our people once before,' one of the orclings reasoned. 'We shall do so again, even under these circumstances.'
"So allowing yourselves to be used by me... as I'm used by my tribe. In exchange, I get the dubious honor of being a vessel that treats these souls like his own children?" Dar'gul asked in a hint of sarcasm that he expected them to pick up on.
'If it be any consolation, lad,' an orcling began. 'If it keeps you sane we'll gladly play the role of "your children".'
"That's too much to ask..." Dar'gul moaned, feeling the throngs of sleep begin to take him.
'If you ask us, it's not enough...' And with that, the voices left him. It had a while since Dar'gul learned that he could communicate with the souls of the Seven Legendary Warriors due to their maternal connection to him, but conversing with them was something that was still awkward as only he could hear them. He had to be really careful not to make himself look like he had gone mad, though he probably failed in that regard. As he allowed himself to get comfortable again, or as comfortable as he can be, a stray thought crossed his mind as a tear dripped down his cheek.
'Whatever... I still hate this. But I'm stuck in this mess, so... I guess I'll have to deal with it..."

I don’t know if you want this to end like this, but I’ve been thinking that the way this will all end is when Dar’gul gives birth to his orclings at a very old age, dying as a result, however, since he’s served his chief so well, not only does he get to go to heaven while taking the form of a young man, but he can also communicate with his orclings in spirit. It starts on the day they’re born. As they’re asleep, Dar’gul enters their dreams one by one, telling them that he loves them, he’ll always be in their little hearts, and if they choose to relive their past lives or not, he supports whatever decision they make. The dream would also have him holding the particular orcling close, comforting them, giving them kissies, and giving them life advice as they grow up.

Hm... that's a possibility. Of course, this is not the end of Dar'gul's story. In fact, I dare say it's Side A of a prologue to a greater story. Side B, whic will focus on another orc from another tribe, will come at some point in the future.
