It had been quite some time since Emiko had last shared the ring with longtime friend and rival, Nesrine Jaffar. Emiko had fought her twice before, coming up short both times against her senpai but getting closer to winning each time. After their last fight, Emiko made a promise to herself that she would challenge Nesrine once again once she felt like she could win. There was few people that Emiko looked up to as much as Nesrine; She was beautiful, strong, smart and was breaking down barriers not only for muslim women boxers but women boxers in general. Emiko was proud to call Nesrine her friend and rival, and even though the two took drastically different paths in terms of the type of boxing they were known for, Emiko wanted to become equal with the woman who sparked her fighting spirit the most. Emiko trained for months and fought many opponents both foxy and pro style, trying to gather up as much experience as possible so she could prove to herself that she was just as strong as her idol. Round after round, punch after punch Emiko had made sure that she wouldn't doubt herself and pushed forward with as much courage, strength and fighting spirit as she possibly could. The fight was almost impossibly close as Emiko did everything she could to match Nesrine blow for blow, trading knockdown for knockdown. It wasn't until the last few seconds of the final round where the tides would turn, as Emiko thought to herself "Nesrine, I wanna be your equal. I want to inspire others as much as you have inspired me, I want to show you how much I've grown!" as she fired a solid shot to Nesrine's solar plexus with everything that she had. It felt as though time had slowed down as she felt her glove connect with Nesrine. Emiko braced herself, anticipating to be on the receiving end of a powerful punch from Nesrine but what happened was actucally the thing she had expected the least. Nesrine's mouthguard flew straight past her face, as a mix of blood and spit had sprayed onto her face and sports bra as Nesrine collapsed to the ring floor and the referee had begun the count and Emiko watched from her corner in disbelief. "She's definitely gonna get up and kick my ass now." Emiko had thought but the count would continue, surprisingly reaching ten. "DING DING DING!" The bell would ring as Emiko was in complete shock. "I'm dreaming right?" She thought as she looked at Nesrine who she noticed trying to get up and that's when she snapped out of it. "Senpai!" She said as she had rushed over to Nesrine and helped her up, hugging her tightly with tears in her eyes. "T-that was a really good punch." Nesrine said, light of breath as Emiko embraced her. Emiko smiled, feeling as though she had finally achieved what she was wishing for.
