Description
Hello! Its been a while since I last uploaded a tutorial. I'm working on a secret costume for Sunday of Katsucon. So I'm taking the opportunity to show you how I'm making my tail stick up!
Its not much, but something of an update. I'm planning to film more complicated tutorials later on (pictures are only good for simple steps).
Anyways, enjoy!
PS. Guess my secret cosplay (ohohoho)

does the tail slightly sway when moving if you do it this way? since im making a comission for a friend and the wire i used on my own first tail didn't like to perk up.

me too! XD but does it work with just a coat hanger?

Oh yeah I used a coat hanger since I have so many extras laying around. The coat hanger I used was pretty thick wire, so it was actually pretty hard to cut with my wire cutters, but I finally got it. As long you leave the coat hanger long enough, you'll be fine with making the loop at the end. I think mine turned out fine, and it was much cheaper than trying to hunt for some thick wire.

Can I use the same technique to make a different kind of tail?

Of course! Β You can make any type of tail with this. Β You either just need more stuffing or less stuffing or longer wire, etc.

If I wasn't able to get the spare material, since I don't know if I could, do you think wrapping lots of masking tape could help? Looks like a great tutorial though thank you Β

Yume-ka In reply to Dark-Angel167 [2014-07-12 19:11:12 +0000 UTC]
do you mean wrap the duct tape around the wire? Β It might be less bendable that way but if you don't want your tail to bend or keep it in a certain shape, then sure

Whereabouts could you attain the wire? I don't think a wire coat-hanger is going to be long enough :/
(this tutorial is most helpful^^)Β

I can also do this to make a dog tail for my own cosplay!!! Just need to make it shorter and figure out a way for the tail to look more like little dog's tail...

Yume-ka In reply to ShokuxToki [2013-06-17 01:25:49 +0000 UTC]
Yeah for sure! Not sure what type of dog, but I would use long fur and make the tail thicker with more stuffing, and have a pointy tip.

This is an interesting way to do a cat tail... I like how it's bendable and "perky" as your title suggests!
I may use this tutorial to add a tail to my Happy cosplay. I'm glad I found this!

Your welcome! This should work as a base for all tails as long as its not too heavy, good luck!
