Personally, I believe a number of the icons etc on deviantART could be repixeled. I'm by far not the person to do so, but I thought I'd give it ago on the Staff Merits. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, have a read of What do the Staff Merit icons stand for? . These icons appear on a staff or senior's userpage in the top right hand corner after achieving certain things.The top line shows the original icons, and underneath my own representation. Mostly I kept similar to the original shape, except with the star on the end. Instead I changed this to a shield like trohpy. However, all have been repixeled and had their colour changed! I also decided to go with a theme, and thought the small "tick" worked well.
From left to right, the Staff Merits are...
Commendable Leadership Award Former Staff Member Distinguished Serive Award Customer Service ExpertThey could obviously do with some work, though it was quite hard with only the small canvas to work with. Let me know what your thoughts are!
Edit: I updated the colours and shading slightly, making them a little shinier and brighter. (01/07/06)

personally i like the originals..but only because the little check marks on your shield and fella aren't well defined. Since they're such small dimensions I can't really see that it's a check unless I really look...I really hope that DA adopts some of your revamps though...the old emotes really need a make over with the new fashion and trends in emoticons.

Hmm... I think I like the old ones, the nostalgic old fart that I am.
I think the thing I don't really like about these ones is the "check mark" thing instead of a truly individual and unique-looking award. The check makes them look too similar IMO.
Also, the colors are a tad too dark (once again, IMO).
I do think they should be repixeled sometime, though...

Good luck getting those replaced...I've tried with tons of icons, never had any luck. Unless they ever have a contest...

They need to be shiney or have more contrast, following this, your staff merits will reach enlightement or something like that jazz.

They're kinda dark. :[ Aren't awards happy things? And all of them are pillow shaded.

Yeah, I know what you mean. People will tend to stick with what you have, but its not like these ones will actually be used, I just wanted to try out some stuff. I'll also keep working on them...

I think your Commendable Leadership Award and Distinguished Service Award icons donβt quite attract the eye as well as the previous ones. The other two I like, but just those ones seem a little dull in comparison

I enjoy the current ones, truelly. I think that a re-make would be wonderful, but not these. The shading is a bit too rich, and doesn't show off the importance of these "awards". They should be more colourful and/or bright. That way, they stand out to show the significance of them.

Nice, but the CLA and CSE are kinda similar now... and the check is hard to see with the detailed shading.
