This really fits their characters and are really well drawn, this is not even racist its diversity I'm pretty sure that those judgemental people didn't think straight when arguing about it and if they wanted all of them to be the same race then that's racist and it will also take out the creativity in this masterpiece.

I'm really not quite understanding what people are saying the problem is. So correct me if I'm wrong, but people are saying that this Pearl interpretation is racist because they think it looks like an Asian stereotype?
1. Her skin honestly looks perfectly within the range of realistic skin colors. Plenty of people, even white people that I've seen, have actually very yellow skin?
2. Is there something wrong with people who do have yellow skin? How is drawing someone with yellow skin an insult?
3. Her eyes are BRIGHT BRIGHT blue. Even if her skin was dandelion yellow, this STILL wouldn't be a stereotype. I don't get it.
Wouldn't the racist thing to do be making all of the human interpretations white? Or making the use of different races as humorous or insulting? Which is the exact opposite of what's happening in this image?
I'm so so confused as to what is happening or what the problem is???

I don't know how to tell you that there are people with yellowish skin other than that I have seen plenty people with yellowish skin. ESPECIALLY with a shade as mild as that that's hardly even yellowish at all. So I guess no further discussion can be made on that part.
And I still don't see how it's racist in either case, to be honest. Is it racist when someone draws a white character with skin that's more pink or pale than is humanly possible? Is having a different skin color some sort of insult?? Because I thought the entire point of anti-racism is that it isn't.

I think it must be people's contrast, because Pearl looks like a normal skin color to me. I copied the image in paint and expanded the color and it still looked peach.
Its actually really funny that people are calling this piece racist because it made three characters with no cannon race people of color. (I'm not even sure this depiction of Pearl is Asain, I think you people are so quick to hate something you just pull things out of a hat.) Look at Peridot who is drawn Arabic AND has robot legs so she also depicted as disabled, and Jasper who was given dark blotchy skin (I do not know the proper term for that) and Amethyst who appears to either be biracial or mexican.Β

Obviously not all AsiansΒ have the same skin tone, but these comments are ridiculous since it's not even clear if Pearl's Asian! Isn't saying that it's racism because a character who might not even be Asian has a certain skin colour perpetuating racist stereotypes about what Asians look like? And some Asians do look stereotypical, so should we hate on them too? What about Tiana from Princess and the Frog? Is that movie racist because she has slightly big lips? No one can completely escape their own stereotypes. I'm a girl who likes magical girl shows and worries about her weight. Some African-Americans have big lips and like hip hop. And some Asians have skin similar to Pearl! It's only racist if a character is completely stereotypical with nothing that challenges their stereotypes. Pearl's design here isn't 100% stereotypically Asian as she has blue eyes and a curvy body. That doesn't sound like a racist caricature of Asians, does it?
Anyway, I think it's great that you're keeping with the spirit of the show by making the designs diverse, especially with regards to Jasper's design. Sorry for the negativity in the last paragraph, but these comments make me so angry! I hope you have a wonderful day and I look forward to seeing more of your art.

Pearl looks like a cute little cotton candy girl and it's just the best representation I have seen yet! I think it fits her very well actually. I love it a lot.
