Description
I was standing on a hill yesterday, looking across at the valley as it was swallowed by a wall of rain. After the rain engulfed me I turned around and realized that my town, which was only a stone's throw away, had vanished too. I stood for a moment longer. Out of the grey, little hovering lights began turning on - and like a connect-the-dots picture, suddenly I could see the town again. It felt very much like the moment in Ponyo when Sōsuke's dad wakes up from the storm and spies a "city" on the horizon.Anyway, I didn't have a camera, so I painted it (and gave myself a cloak and shield ;D).

I love this, even more with the story and meaning behind it. Such life experiences are to be remembered!

It kinda looks like your town is on some giant tree.

Haha - that's actually quite accurate. My town is called "Pinegrove".

Now THAT is some scenic inspiration right there. Great job on this! Really can feel the "looking for home" vibe coming from this thing

Oh, that's so cool to hear. Not to get too deep, but I had been in a bit of a creative slump and my drawing pace was really slow. But after getting refreshing in the rain, this thing whipped itself up in about 15 minutes. It just took a bit of inspiration. Thanks very much. : )
