I was trying to study anatomy...He didn't turn out as dynamic as I wanted him to.

Having the character lean more backwards might have helped, or having him follow the swing leaning more forward... Anyway, a more unbalanced pose might have made the character more dynamic. Something Frank Frazetta like. Of course, if you were drawing this from a reference, such a pose might have been difficult to make.
