Quick, messy, imperfect, but nearly exactly what I had in mind.

This stemmed both from Linkin Park's "Valentine's Day":

"I used to be my own protection
But not now
'Cause my path has lost direction
Somehow"

and a snippet of poetry in my scraps:

Tastes of Churchill
Your blue funk whistled up my black dog
And they're hobnobbing in my garden
lounging on the patio,
Tossing crepe paper streamers at the house now and then.

Edit: Gave poor Alfie there a foot, and moved him a little.
Edit II: Sharpened the dog's layer a little. I think that's what was bothering me.
Edit III: Moved to Scraps until I get it to suck less.
