Description VR interface connecting...

As your VR assistant I might remind you for your safety where your body is in reality.  You are in the Proxima b star system, on Ceres, humanity's second ever successful planet in world habitation.  The 1st ever success in this endeavor is quarantined, due to an outbreak of an unclassified disease that seems to spread faster than is physically possible.  We have shielded the planet from any communication and stopped all travel to and from there by sealing the planet in a singularity pocket.  Essentially it no longer exists in our universe.

Through VR you will make contact with the locals who have no yet been affected.  This is the safest way of investigating the nature of this planet's...transformation.  In a way you are giving humanity hope-- hope that this world of hundreds of millions will not be lost forever, and that we do not need to lose our humanity in the process...

Please be advised that you may witness disturbing phenomenon.  We do not know the origins, only that recent excavations on the planet's ruins may have released the disease.  You will have the ability to enter the minds of people with whom you gain contact through the VR transmission; this will be essential to finding out exactly where the outbreak occurred and gathering data on it's nature.  Exploring this situation through VR will keep you, and the rest of humanity safe.  Please stand by for upload.

The A.I. interface responded, "please do not be disturbed.  The subjects will not lose control of their bodies.  you will only be navigating through their memories" (think inception)

As you put on the VR equipment, you hear a fizzing sound and the fluid around you filled up in the tube where you were standing in the nude.  The room was currently empty, but there was a monitor on the wall with video of you for security.  Suddenly the fizzing sound became louder and your vision went out.  Or rather, it went black.  You felt the fluid drain away from you like a vapor and the A.I. companion spoke, "you have arrived.  please be advised that you are currently only visible to certain trained psychics planetside.  If you choose to reveal yourself to them, I will mark their location on  your map"  You notice a map in the corner of your vision with a dot. You can see the outline of a half-destroyed city.  your map is not detailed enough to tell you where you are.  You are only in blackness, standing upright.

This isn't so bad, actually. That city is of interest, probably some humans still living in the ruins... and unless there is something else of interest, I will head there. Though I take a moment to look at how I appear within this world while traveling.

The voice came through clearly, "please remember your objective while you are here.  You are not on a sight-seeing tour!" she said in a testy, matronly voice.  Suddenly the ground shook and the darkness began to lift.  As if the lights slowly were turning on all around you, the landscape of a wrecked amusement park appeared around you.  You could see that you were near a psychic just to the north of you in a large building.

"Yes Mother, I know why I am here..."

Internally: This is... strange. Familiar, yet not... kind of how I would imagine the area around that Russian nuclear plant. Might as well head to that psychic to the north, ask them what's going on here.

"Quick question. Why not send through a drone? Or were there problems with the signal, the machines were attacked etc."

"...good.  This is a very last-ditch effort.  The others did not test well for compatibility with the V.R. sofware neural lace.  Your system is a near perfect match.  The reason we are using this instead of sending in hardware is that no hardware would be able to come here.  You are currently on the other side of a singularity-- a black hole.  This entire planetary system is quarantined inside that black hole in order to keep whatever has been spreading on it from skipping to the next planet.  If a satellite of any kind ventures too close, it will be completely obliterated once it hits the event horizon."

I continue heading towards the psychic, and since I am not in a massive rush, I take some time looking around the ruined amusement park, provided I continue heading in the direction of the psychic. I stop before entering the psychic's building, as a thought strikes me.

"Has anyone else tried going in before me? Using this VR setup? The way you mentioned it before, the others, makes it sound like I am maybe not the first to come here"

While waiting for the VR assistant to reply, I stare up at the building... and it finally registers what it once was.

"... Why did the psychic decide to live in a haunted house ride... thing"

ZephyrStranded In reply to TR-219 [2017-04-28 01:18:20 +0000 UTC]

Indeed it was a large scary looking building, purposefully modeled to look terrifying for ride-goers.  You notice that the front door is boarded up.

"We have had others, but none have survived to actually fulfilling the mission" she said. "granted, they did not die in real life.  However, once dead, the signature of a user cannot be reconnected.  In other words they are kicked out of the quarantine forever when they die in VR"  There was a pause. "you have a number of abilities since you aren't actually corporeal.  one of them is you can phase through matter.  You can also allow yourself to cease to exist, and then re-exist.  The former seems to be very useful to users, the latter hasn't been utilized to it's fullest, I think"  she said.

ZephyrStranded In reply to TR-219 [2017-04-29 18:04:46 +0000 UTC]

As you walk up the stairs, you hear the boiling get louder.  The VR assistant responds. "You can call me Vira.  I do have a number, but it's more boring than my extremely old-fashioned name."

Getting to the top, you notice a man's back toward you.  He's sitting cross-legged in front of a pot of water that is boiling.  His head is adorned with the largest and fanciest set of headphones.  He's stirring the water and lifting the spoon out to check, his eyes very focused on his task.

TR-219 In reply to ZephyrStranded [2017-04-29 21:33:05 +0000 UTC]

I will wait, and preferably sit myself down on a chair if there is two of them. He did not hear me before, and with those headphones (I assume the type that muffles sound) he is unlikely to hear me over the boiling water. I am in his home, after all.

Internally: I am guessing that is some sort of soup then, though I can't imagine what went into it. As for your name... it sounds nice.

ZephyrStranded In reply to TR-219 [2017-04-30 02:22:02 +0000 UTC]

As you walk around to find a chair, you notice that there is a hole in the roof with sunlight streaming in, dust motes thick in that beam of light.  The place is run down, but you find a dusty old chair.  As you go to sit in it, it creaks a little.

The man looks up, and looks across to where you are, but apparently is unable to see you.  He then takes off his headphones. "Hello?" his voice did not echo.  It was hollow like the room.

I stand up, and walk towards him.

"Any information you give to me, I can forward to the rest of humanity. Among them, someone will surely come up with a means of dealing with this... That is, unless there are no major problems with using psychic powers"

"Ah...I see.  Yes of course you are here for that.  As you know there were the excavations on what seems to be remnants of a lost alien species.  We have seen a few other remnants here and there on this planet and actually on the neighboring planet.  Truth be told, this world was populated a little too fast for what was ethical.  There was a little life here, but we brought herds of cows and sheep and planted trees and grain and grass, and before you know it, there were cities printed out by the fab machines on a monthly basis.  The local life forms had little to no time to adapt and I'd say most of them went extinct.  We're being punished by the planet herself, is my take"  He said, scooping a cup of soup and handing it to you.

Vira chimed in, "The psychics aren't the main sources of info you can rely on here, but it's good to get some background like that, for your sake.  We need to find out where the excavations were.  It's unclear from my reading of his speech whether he's already been infected by the malady or not.  He sounds a little...off don't you think?-- you can answer in your head if you think deliberate thoughts to me and then think, "send""

I accept the cup, though I am unsure if I can actually drink it.

"Who do you know that knows more about those alien excavations? Preferably someone who worked in them, if they are still around..."

This is guy might a little weird, but considering half of his body is gone, and the circumstances of this world, it could be worse for him. But we don't know the extent of what is going on here, so any information is better than none. sen...

Hold on a moment. He mentioned the alien ruins were on other another planet as well... Don't tell me they are on Ceres. Send.

ZephyrStranded In reply to TR-219 [2017-05-01 05:45:46 +0000 UTC]

Vira answered "Ceres is safely many light years from your current location in the galaxy.  The planet he's talking about was never inhabited by humanity due to it's being outside of the "goldilocks" zone.  We think the anasazi, or ancient ones who built these ruins used some kind of climate altering technology to live outside of the habitable zone.  But we have no clue how it would work yet.  We have so few artifacts from their civilization."

"Well, I don't know any that are currently alive actually.  The whole site just north of here in San Marquis valley was infested last year.  There were no survivors.  But I do remember the fellow in charge of the dig and that whole area quite well--"

Vira jumped in. "go now.  He won't feel a thing if you dive into his memory.  there isn't any visual for you doing it.  you will simply vanish from him and enter his deep memory.  The VR technology should fill in any blanks from data we get while you're in there"

"I know it's probably a long way to Ceres from here, why don't you drink the soup?" said the man.

I think about going in, and hope that's how it works... for some reason, I don't trust the soup that he's made... and I am not even sure I can drink it.

My vision goes blank, and I panic for a moment, before I am given a sort of slideshow of still images... I pick one that looks relatively normal, and if dated, prior to the "disappearance" of this planet. The image is a view of the sky, a clear blue-green, with relatively normal looking trees and clouds at the edges of the picture.

"How will I appear in this memory? I assume I will not be noticed. Send"

ZephyrStranded In reply to TR-219 [2017-05-01 18:37:20 +0000 UTC]

(haha reminds me of the new zelda game a little, have you played it?)

After picking the memory you notice that it begins to expand in front of you like an imax theater image.  It gets larger still until you realize that it has wrapped entirely around you.  Suddenly the breeze tickles your neck and the air smells sweet.  In front of you is a large valley framed with trees around you.  The valley seems to have some kind of development as there is the sound of machines and a repetitive wack wack wack of some construction equipment.  Where you stand is very peaceful and it feels for a moment like you could escape here easily.

Vira crackled, "You might have difficulty hearing me, since I'm projecting through a black hole and a man's head..."  After a moment she said, "you are able to 'ghost' here as well, but keep in mind that you are not invincible.  You can reveal yourself to psychics, but we are not entirely certain what caused the anomaly...though we do know it is related to the whole psychic...thing.  We have very little data on it, so use caution"  Her voice had a strange fuzz behind it.

"Understood, though I am not going to mess with this man's memories, if I can avoid it. Send"

With that, I think that I no longer want to be seen, and cease to exist. Assuming I can still see the world around me, I head towards the sounds of machinery. When I look down to myself, I see nothing, and I grin.

"How has no-one used this before? As an aside, I might loose contact with you shortly, if my hunch is right. Send"

The path I am walking along looks like it was made recently, made of small stones, but they make no sound as I move. I can see some fallen trees either side of the path as I get closer to the sound of human activity. I find myself aproaching a small ridge, with some smoke and steam coming over the edge of it.

"Huh... "

(Nope, don't have the money to purchase the console ATM. That, and I have not played any Zelda games yet)

"If you alter the course of history by your actions in his mind, he will simply see it as a new way of thinking about what happened.  His original memory,as far as we have tested, is intact.  If you jump into the mind of a child, please be advised that your caution is warranted.  In adults there seems to be no worry of harming the subject.  If you must go into the mind of a child, keep in mind that the planet is mostly devastated and is under quarantined because of it's potential to infect the rest of the quadrant.  We currently have no idea how the anomaly travels.  Thus, altering the memory of a child in the memory of a nearly-mad psychic is permissible.  Also, anyone you meet here is only a memory of the psychic you met before, but you can still enter their minds as well.  The mind of a psychic is a miraculous thing. Also keep in mind that--"

As you attempt to cease to exist, you notice that the world around you winks out.  You are surrounded by blackness again, like when you first entered the quarantine.  "--you disappeared." Vira said through the fuzz.  "Usually you are invisible wherever you go, but if you choose to reveal yourself, only psychics will be able to detect you.  You must be careful in exercising your abilities, but I'm glad you're trying them out now" she said.  "I'll allow it to turn off automatically, but keep in mind that you are merely a projection, so it's not hard to simply turn you off-- hence this ability.  You won't lose your position when you come back in, don't worry"  The world faded back into sight around you and you could feel the wind again.

Ahead of you, as you proceed, you notice the hole as you get closer.  There is a pit carved out of the bottom of this valley-- a deep excavation site.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TR-219 In reply to ZephyrStranded [2017-05-01 23:44:49 +0000 UTC]

If the projection is not already off, it goes off now. While Vira said it has no permanent effect, It more so just feels morally wrong to interfere. Besides, I need to know what happened, and how it did so in it's original form, with as few variations as possible. I can see some machinery around the hole, along with large piles of rock, some being loaded into trucks to be hauled away from the dig site...

I head towards the hole, hoping there is some kind of elevator or pathway to the bottom I can use, while also keeping an eye out on the people around the machinery. If I see what looks like the man, or someone in a position of authority, I will head towards them, and listen in to any conversations they have.

(I feel that I would be essentially live streaming my experiences back to the scientists on Ceres, so they should be able to see everything I do. In the event that fails, it's more like a you tube video, able to be record and stored, until it can be uploaded at a later date)

(That's pretty much how I imagine it.  They can analyze it as new info becomes available through your investigation. The VR assistant is operating from Ceres, so your signal is reaching ceres)

There are several machines being operated, some of which seem to be unmanned as they dig/haul.  You can see people coming out of the elevator situated on the far side of the pit and getting into vehicles.  Several of them look exhausted, or sick-- saying nothing.  The truck takes them away.  You can hear a man nearby talking on his phone, "yeah, it looks like there was an accident a few minutes-- yeah, I'll get right on it.  Sure, sure.  He's fine, but it seems there was a collapse and there are a few men trapped down there.  Yes sir, we're taking precautions.  Sure, yes.  I'll make sure we keep it sealed.  Uh huh.  Yeah this can't get out"

TR-219 In reply to ZephyrStranded [2017-05-02 01:35:02 +0000 UTC]

I take a closer look at the people who look sick before they leave, before focusing on the man on the phone... he seems like the dig manager, and I want to know how he is handling this. If no other interesting information comes from him, I head towards the elevator, and take it the next time it goes down.

"I wonder if there is a way to reverse time in this memory? It would be useful, to be down there the moment this all goes wrong. Send"

I am also interested in those that are trapped down there, so being with them when the "Accident" occurs would be the most ideal, assuming the man on the phone has no other important information to say.

Vira responded in a scratchy crackle, "you have identified some people who were there before the event, it would be easy to jump into their memory of just before the event."

As the elevator began to go down, you notice that the air is cold and damp.

TR-219 In reply to ZephyrStranded [2017-05-03 21:21:19 +0000 UTC]

Ok, that was pretty quick. No traces of the warmth from above, and I'm not that far down. I stay on the elevator for now, keeping note of some of the people who just left.

"Would I be capable of jumping into their memories, without them being nearby? Send"

I notice the periodic lights as the elevator travels further downwards, giving off an odd glow. Not red, like emergency lights, or normal lights, but something different again.

"It's almost like the air down here is... different, that what was above"

ZephyrStranded In reply to TR-219 [2017-05-03 22:11:19 +0000 UTC]

"You would need to be nearby.  Fortunately there are many people on-site it seems who have memory of that time. Go ahead and have a look around!" She said.

The glowing seems to be coming through the rocks further down, coming in a pulse of iridescent light.  It's hard to look at when it pokes through, and when it dies down it leaves your eyes wishing the light was shining in them because the darkness is so thick.  Soon the elevator stops with a shake.  You can feel the light a split second before it shines out of the rocks.  It looks like there is a tunnel with a lot of rubble and some emergency equipment.  However, no one is around down here.

TR-219 In reply to ZephyrStranded [2017-05-03 22:29:01 +0000 UTC]

I see what looks like the collapsed tunnel, and phase through the rubble to get through. On the other side, I see some unfamiliar rock, carved out and embedded in the stone.

"The site manager mentioned the people trapped down here. I figure they are my best source of information at this time. Send"

I can see little light, save for a small flame nearby, it's orange glow illuminating the hand that is holding it... and the blood pooled beneath it.

"Looks like not everyone made it through..."

As you phase through the rock, you can feel the grain of cold stone brushing against your insides.  Simultaneously, you feel it on your skin.  It's oddly exciting to have this new experience.  As you emerge and see the torch, the strange carving on the wall, you realize that you will have to phase a couple more times before you get all the way through as the path continues through rubbled tunnels.  On the wall here you can see markings carved in some ancient language.  Below is a broken light that used to be shining on it along with a pile of soiled papers containing notes.  You see a helmet nearby, not attached to anyone.  The glowing rock seems brighter the further the tunnel goes.

TR-219 In reply to ZephyrStranded [2017-05-03 23:35:13 +0000 UTC]

"Vira? Any insight on the glowing stone, and what I can only assume is the alien carvings? Send"

While I wait for a response from her, I pick up the papers, and hold them near enough to the torch to where they will heat up, and dry off. If I feel instead that the paper will disintegrate the moment I try to move it, I will spread them out so I can see them all at once, and hope that the scientists can make sense of the writing, if it is illegible to me.

I have got a fair chunk of time to spend on this, after all, and these papers meant something to someone. I look back to the torch for a moment, seeing the hand shaped holder, made of the alien stone...

"Guess I was wrong then. Though I wouldn't be surprised if there was someone underneath this rubble"

(Would collapsed tunnels be more accurate?)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ZephyrStranded In reply to TR-219 [2017-05-04 16:57:34 +0000 UTC]

(yeah, the tunnels are collapsed)

Vira crackled back, "We don't know the language yet of the ancient ones, but this definitely is symptomatic of their language.  Look one by one at each of the papers for at least ten seconds and we'll be able to do some analysis.  One thing I recognize immediately is the "immortality motif" in corner.  It's common in their plaques.  We think it represents immortality, though we aren't exactly sure."  You notice the image of a loop.  It's like an infinity, but instead of just one twist, it looks like a blob drawn with a spirograph, the loops pointing out in sharp, thin needles from the center where they intersect.  Strangely there are jagged lines in there and the "center" is off to the side, which she explains, "is indicative of their culture, though we aren't sure how" a vague statement.

"once you've done that, why not phase through the rubble.  We warned, you can touch things there, but pulling things through the rubble is difficult.  I would not advise it"

TR-219 In reply to ZephyrStranded [2017-05-04 21:38:21 +0000 UTC]

I look at each of the papers for 12 seconds, just to be sure, to record and send off their information, before looking towards the next wall of rubble.

(Outlast 2, much?)

Once I am done looking at the papers, I consider removing the torch from the holder, but see no way of getting it through the rubble. With little else to go off, I phase through the rubble until I reach the next clearing. I almost have to shield my eyes as my head passes through some of the alien stone, though there isn't anything there to shield it with.

"So much light... can barely see"

ZephyrStranded In reply to TR-219 [2017-05-04 22:46:40 +0000 UTC]

(What's Outlast 2?)

As you pass through the rubble, you get the distinct feeling of it passing through you as well, the rocks like a cold puff throughout your bones.  As the light blinds you, Vira chimes in, "You seem to be experiencing some kind of blindness.  I can't detect any light on my end.  This must be what you were describing earlier, but we weren't able to detect it.  However, your brain scan is showing that you are indeed seeing light.  Does shielding them help?"  She sounded worried, if a VR assistant could feel that.

You notice that the tunnel is angling down and turning a corner.  It's not clear if there are multiple paths because of the blindness.

Vira hurredly chimes in, "I should advise you that we recently detected your current location on the present-day map of the quarantined planet (I should probably say a name for it haha) and using the same technology that allowed us to send you there in the first place, we could send you exactly where you are, but in the present day if you choose.  You don't need to do this now, but be advised that it is an option.  We also have the location of the psychic at this time in his memory, should you need a place to escape to.  However, in order to travel either through the memory time-line or in space, you would need to take the time to cease to exist, then we can relocate you.  We thought this would be useful for you if you needed to see this excavation site in the present day condition"

"Now that is useful information, in the event I need to run the hell away. Send"

I attempt to shield my eyes as I am walking through the collapsed tunnels and rubble, but it has little effect. Having a glowing rock all around your eyes tends to do that, and no amount of squinting, or covering my eyes with my hands, can help that. Thankfully, I manage to find another section of the tunnel that is mostly clear of rubble, and take a moment to look around, and close my eyes.

"Note to self... walking through glowing rock. Bad idea. And yet, I still need to do it, for the people of Charon III. Let's see where this rabbit hole goes"

(Hope you don't mind if I came up with the name...)

(Outlast, and it's sequel outlast two, are two horror games. In both, you have access to a camera, and can "record" the events that you see. The second, it is only specific moments, and not looking at them for long enough means you miss them. In addition, you can review the footage, or the photos of documents, at a later date, and the character will make comments on them. Haven't played them, but watched a let's play of both)

"You will need a few seconds at least to do it, and it will require you being still, so don't let this get you into any dangerous situations that keep you from standing still for a few seconds."

As you phase through the rock, it feels different from the rock before.  While the rock before felt almost like a lukewarm bath, but on the inside as well as the outside, this felt even more invasive.  There was a popping feeling as you went through the rock.

"About the light, yep definitely seems to be bright for you...though we can't see anything in our visual of it.  It looks pretty dark.  The -blip- rocks are -blip-ly near the anomal-blip-.  Ma-blip- -beeeeeppp-"  you notice that the beeping isn't any longer an electronic telegraphic sound, but a ringing like you've been hit in the head.  Suddenly you emerge, completely blind, your body free of the popping feeling that was like painful fizzy drink all through out and over every surface.

"Right, ok... Can't see anything... Vira? Help? Send"

I start panicking, trying to find the boundaries of whatever space I have emerged in, and continue panicking for a good minute, before somewhat stopping to think.

"Ok, think... Vira was saying something about the rocks and an anomaly? If that's the case... not good"

I think I still have arms, and use them to touch myself, see what I feel. If it's warm and fleshy, probably a good sign. If it's anything else, not so much.

"...Vira? Disregard my previous query. What the hell, did I just phase through? Send"

(And here I thought I was being cautious...)

"..."  There was no response.  You only heard a ringing that seemed to be fading into a background noise now.

As you touch yourself you are able to tell that your body is totally there, at least virtually, and you can feel the wall you just phased through.  It's smooth and rounded.  As you feel about you notice you can see the outlines of things.  There is a form in front of you that looks like someone standing in front of you.  There's also other forms.  None of them appear to be moving.  The more you look around the more obvious it becomes that you are standing among statues.  The light that was so bright begins to lessen a bit, though everything around you is bright still.  You notice that the statues are of creatures with bodies that are very bulky and there are many legs, like an insect, but they have some eyes here and there, some teeth in strange places.  They are absurd to comprehend.   They all seem to be standing upright, however, with multiple three fingered hands (some have four sets of arms with hands, the others have two)  They have a strange cavity in their front like a mouth, but with no teeth on it.  Some of them were closed, but some of them were open, with various objects coming out, or was it in?  The statues were old and the lighting made it near impossible to see true depth.  You could see there were pillars and there was a pathway that led up to a door.  Now this door was not like a human door.  It was more like a scoop, where you walk in and the back wall sloped down to the floor.  It is unclear where it leads as the slope inside seemed to cut off the way forward.  Your eyes seemed to feel warm and tingly, and that popping feeling was happening throughout your body.  There was a tremor suddenly and you could feel the ground shake, but nothing crumbled or cracked in here.

"What is with this feeling... it isn't the stone, that's still cold, and a little slimy... then it must be me? I would ask what on earth is going on here... but Vira's non responsive..."

I glance back at the outlines of the statues, before continuing.

"What is with those things anyway? Not any creature I recognize... nothing human about them either... and now I am talking to myself. It's only to collect my thoughts, I swear"

I take a long look at the stone statues, making sure that if I still can record this information, I will, and send it off later when I have reception, for lack of better terms. It is at roughly this point the tremor occurs, and I fall to the floor, unable to keep my balance for whatever reason.

"Ok, now all of me feels weird.... er, my eyes in particular, but all of me feels... strange. Is it this room? Is it the VR? I have no idea... what it is, let alone how to stop it"

The tremor stops after a few moments and you can see why the tunnel had been collapsing.  By now your eyes had completely adjusted and you can see the statues more clearly.  And yes, they were monsters indeed.  And those mouths on the front of their bodies seemed to stretch along their abdomen with no teeth.  There was a strange lip along the edge like a clam.  The statues showed great detail  As you looked, you started to become aware of a pattern to all the mess, but you wouldn't be able to put it all into words.  They seemed to make more sense the longer you looked at them.  In the doorway, you hear a humming that seems to pulse loudly then soften, loudly, then soften.

Your eyes feel soft and warm, like you've been up all night.  You notice that they feel large in your head, possibly from the sensation of light.

I do a double take to see if there are any light sources in the cave, and look back towards the collapsed tunnel, then back to the indescribable statues, then to the doorway.

"Alright, taking stock. My eyes feel as if I have been up all night, yet I can see pretty clearly... despite the limited light in this room, though depth perception is limited... and that door is humming, sort of like a pulse"

I head towards the doorway, given I can see it clearly... and stop.

"Vira mentioned an anomaly... either those statues, or this doorway, is. Maybe it's the cause of the interference? In that scenario, I probably want to be further away from this thing... but I can't help but feel drawn to it. It might be the answer to what the source is..."

I pull back away from the doorway, going closer to the collapsed corridor.

"Ok, I need to see this in modern day. Vira? Any help? Send"

If I receive no response, I will try to phase through the collapsed corridor, get some distance on this weird room. I need to get reception, send out what I have seen.

"Vira? Respond... send"

Looking around, you notice there isn't a single light source in there, yet it's all extremely bright...even though right now it seems like a very well lit museum with these statues.  You arrived here via phasing through the wall, so the only doorway you see is the one with the humming.  (I'm assuming you go right back through the way you came? If not I can rewind)  As you phase through the wall, you notice that popping sensation again, but it happens way less than before.  It almost feels like static cling or like the rock is sticky on your insides and on your skin.  When you emerge, the strangest thing happens.  You notice that the cave is less bright than the one you were in before, but you can see much easier than before.  The shadows are diffuse and the color is a little washed out and gray, but you seem to be looking with very clear night vision.

-bweep- "Hey.  You went off the grid there for a bit.  Are you okay?...oh...interesting.  We are processing your information now.  It looks like a lot is going on here.  it might take be a while to unfold all of it.  It seems like the anomaly might be affecting your VR interface, which is very strange.  I'm not sure how that's possible.  Processing your images and your memos it seems that you entered the inner wall of the actual alien temple.  The tremors is an interesting development.  It would be good to figure out what is causing that..."
