Rogue Team Awesome
Event 6 - Temporal Terraforming
PART 1
Next

(Hey guys, this event is a collaboration with two of my friends in which they will be posting their parts themselves, as well as a sorta interloping collaboration between my three teams. Follow the navigation in the descriptions as they appear, and hopefully you wont get too lost.)

Pebble liked to get up right before the sun peeked over the horizon. The air was cooler then, and stepping through the dew reminded him of the morning walks he always took with his dad back home.

Pebble patted the ground in front of him, covering another seed with good soil. He hummed to himself as he worked, and wondered if his parents would write back soon. He had sent his letter as soon as the post office was open again, but still hadn’t received any response. Pebble was a good student, and he was a good son: obedient, diligent, and respective. Running away from home was one thing, not returning was yet another, and Pebble didn’t know how his parents would react. Would they be mad? Disappointed? Would they force him to go back home at once? He would, of course, but he really didn’t want to. He liked living in Tao with Sam and had grown fond of the trees around the village, those few that were still alive.

Sam remembered the first time he planted a tree, it was a seedling he had raised in his room from a seed he had chosen himself. His father had watched him as he planted the small sprout outside, and the Venusaur’s looming silence made him very nervous.

Even now, he could recall his father’s presence behind him as he planted another new seed, and wondered what he thought of his son now.

Hey. So I'll eventually go through your spam of images... maybe, but there are two or three drawings that really caught my eye out of the mass of otherwise somewhat monotonous thumbnails. (I'm not saying that they ARE monotonous simply that they appeared that way in thumbnail form which is understandable considering they were all from the same project/event/what have you.)

This is a piece I remember you showing me previously and while I hold no exceptionally high regard for grass pokemon this is a very well put together piece and is definitely one of my favorites. I love the composition of the piece and how, while still retaining the feel of the other pieces in the series you added greater depth to the work and pushed the style. It is a welcome change that you did not draw the entirety of the Venusaur and instead used it's presence to allow the picture to tell the story.

It's also nice to see that while there is practically a spotlight in the piece, it is not being used to illuminate the Bulbasaur. Instead you use it to illuminate the focus of the bulbasaur's attention. Even without the bulbasaur being in stark contrast to anything else in the picture the eye is drawn to him and the plant which has his attention. At the same time the shadowy figure of the Venusaur allows him to draw our eye but even with his vast size, because we cannot see the entirety of him we can focus the majority of out attention on the actual intended subject of the piece.

Very well done. <3

thank you so much for writing all that! I love reading reviews like this, sometimes the effect of a picture is lost on me after working it so much. i'm glad you appreciated what i did with the venusaur, i really tried hard to indicate an enormous presence with that figure rather than just a character.
