Sam was not so impressed with the mission. Planting trees? Wasn’t that the very thing Pebble had been doing this whole time? Hadn’t Sam himself, best of friends, often accompanied Pebble and helped him with his work, digging holes and watering seeds, the very thing the rest of the town is just now starting to do? A bit late to the party if you asked Sam. They didn’t need anyone else’s help, growing a forest was as easy as mud for Team Awesome, the most awesome pirates AND gardeners this side of the bay!
“Hey Sam, can I see the letter?” Pebble asked as he reached over to take it. Sam’s reading was a bit too choppy for him and he wanted to take a look at the mission statement himself.
Sam pulled back. “What for? It’s nothing we haven’t been doing already! Come on man, we don’t need their help!”
Pebble was taken aback. “Yes we do need their help, Sam! I cant—look, just, let me see the letter!”
Sam was stubborn. He tore the paper to shreds and threw it into the wind. “There, I don’t have it!”
“Sam!” Pebble exclaimed. He tried to think of a way to reason with the mudkip, but Sam had made up his mind. “We don’t need anyone’s help, so there!”
